WEIRD SIMILARITIES: Hitler/Obama, a Comparison; Pt. 1

Want to have some fun and watch a liberal’s head explode? Just compare Hitler to Obama. That always has true entertainment value.
Liberals always lose it over any comparison of The One and Der Fuhrer, and of course there are specific areas where there are no similarities. One of the best examples is that Obama married Michelle Robinson in 1992 and they have been married ever since. They have two daughters, Matasha (“Sasha”) and Malia. Hitler, on the other hand, never fathered any children. He married his long time mistress Eva Braun during the early morning hours of April 29, 1945. Just over 36 hours later on April 30, 1945, Adolph Hitler and Eva Braun-Hitler committed suicide together. Another good example is that while Hitler was a decorated veteran of WWI, Obama never served in the military.
There are other striking differences, but you get the point. What started to fascinate me as I learned more about Obama were the political and historical similarities he had with Hitler.
I have to confess I’ve always been interested in WW II history, and in particular how the Nazis came to power. I started out by wondering how a civilized country such as Germany, a country that gave the world great men such as Martin Luther, J.S. Bach, Goethe, Johannes Gutenberg, and Richard Wagner, could have followed a man like Adolph Hitler. Consequently, I’ve read everything I could find on WWII, Nazism, Hitler and the Holocaust. I therefore feel that the ten points of comparison I’m going to present in this two part column series are not conjecture on my part but are based on observations of Obama and years of study on the life of Adolph Hitler.
1. Origins
Hitler was Austrian, born April 20, 1889 in Braunau am Inn, Austria. He did not become a German citizen until after February of 1932, just before becoming Chancellor of Germany in January 1933.
In Obama’s case, there is something of a cottage industry regarding his origin. The White House released a copy of his long form birth certificate from Hawaii in April, 2011. It was immediately called a fake. This, plus the fact that he will not release his college transcripts only adds to the speculation that there is something to hide. Obama himself has caused all the conspiracy theories by his stonewalling on the issue.
2. Fathers
Hitler’s father, Alois Hitler, was a customs official in the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. While mildly successful professionally, at home he was a mean drunk. He once beat young Adolph so badly the boy was in a coma for several days. Definitely not a good father/son relationship. Alois died when Hitler was 13.
While Barack Obama Sr. is regarded as the president’s real father, once again there is speculation. Young Obama only met his father once, when the older Obama came to Hawaii in 1971. Prior to that, Obama had been living in Indonesia after his mother married Lolo Seotore in 1967. There is also the “theory” that Frank Davis, a known Communist on the FBI watch list, might be Obama’s true father.
Speculation obviously, but it does create a gray area in Obama’s past. Barack Obama Sr. died in 1982, when Obama was 21. They, too, never had a real relationship.
3. Mothers
Hitler’s mother, Klara, died from breast cancer on December 21, 1907 when Hitler was 17. The loss devastated him. He was later quoted as saying “I honored my father, but loved my mother.”
Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, died in 1995 from ovarian and uterine cancer.
Obama, as with Hitler, was extremely close to his mother. And this unique coincidence for both men leads to some interesting conjecture. Klara Hitler had a Jewish doctor. Did this in any way help fuel Hitler’s anti-Semitism? Did some of the costs and insurance issues associated with Stanley Ann Dunham’s death help lead to the implementation of Obamacare-the destruction of our health care system?
4. Authors
Both Hitler and Obama are authors. Well, so what? Lots of people are published authors. What’s unique here is that both men used their writing for two specific purposes: 1.) to further their political careers, and 2.) to lay out their true intentions.
Hitler’s Mien Kampf (or “My Struggle”) was dictated to an associate while Hitler was in prison in 1924. Volume 1 was first published in 1925, Volume 2 in 1926. Subsequently thereafter published as one volume, it has never been out of print.
A hard to find book credited to Hitler is Hitler’s Table Talk, a collection of conversations and monologues delivered by Hitler to his inner circle from July 1941 to late 1944. It was first published in German in 1951, in French in 1952, and in English in 1953. It too is still in print.
Obama has several books to his credit, but is best known for 1995’s Dreams From My Father and The Audacity Of Hope in 2006. Obama has made it clear in his writings that he admired Socialism and radical politics as a young man. As with Hitler’s anti-Semitism and hatred found in Mien Kampf, no one paid attention.
5. Public speaking
This is one area where not much explanation is needed. In Hitler’s case, it was his public speaking ability that propelled his political career, especially in an era before television and the Internet. Most historians regard Hitler as one of the greatest orators of the 20th Century, his only possible equal being Sir Winston Churchill. For anyone fluent in German, recordings of Hitler’s speeches are still available.
It was Obama’s keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention that put him on the national political radar. His subsequent campaigning helped sharpen his speaking skills. However, just as with Hitler, the speeches have begun to get tiresome, redundant, and full of such blatant lies it’s hard to believe he can keep a straight face anymore. Several speeches of his are also available, as well as his books on tape.
