DEMANDING FREE STUFF: Eddie Murphy Predicts the Future

Do you guys remember nearly three decades ago, during Eddie Murphy’s comedy show, “Raw,” he did a bit about marriage? He said that in order to get a loyal, good woman, you had to go to Africa, then find and marry an African woman who does not know anything at all about money or western culture. During that bit he also tells you that you should not let your woman from Africa interact with American women. He said that if you do allow it, they will Americanize her, and ruin your good thing. He believes that the last thing you would hear would be the words, “HALF EDDIE, I WANT HALF!”

Well, the origin of where these people are coming from is not particularly relevant to this case. However, their idea to DEMAND a halal free food kitchen paid for by the American people is. These folks come here, as refugees, seeking asylum, and we take them in. Later, just like Eddie’s fictitious wife, they get Americanized by liberals, and start to make demands.

Ladies and gentlemen, the group of Somali Muslims in Minnesota are demanding that the community provide and pay for a pork free selection of halal products at their free food shelves. One woman stated that the kitchen staff were using canned products that had pork mixed into it, and because the people couldn’t read they didn’t know. Imam Hassan Mohamed stated that this is about basic human rights.

This story also reminds me of the individuals who were fighting with the housing community here in NYC because they wanted to have the final say on how a surplus of our tax dollars would be spent.

What is it with these people being given free stuff, with our tax dollars, and having the nerve to complain and make demands? This is just another slippery slope, ladies and gentlemen. You give an inch, and the people want to take a mile. Has the concept of “free” been lost on people?

I experienced this quite recently, actually. A woman was asking for money that she claimed was for food, so I offered her some of the food that I had just purchased. She looked at me as if I insulted her and then said, “I don’t want your food, I want your money to get whatever I want to get.” Really? Did that woman think that this approach would gain her any favor with me? I began to walk away and then she said, “Ok, I’ll take the food.” I said, “Too late, lady,” and continued to walk away.

I am not attempting to look down on poor people, don’t misunderstand me, I was there, I’m a heartbeat away from being right back there. I know what it’s like. However, when in that situation, my family took what we were given. It bothers me when people who are being given things with my tax dollars have the nerve to make demands of us. Especially when those demands come with a bill for $150,000 dollars..

I’d like to have super healthy food provided to me for free, 24 hours a day, but guess what? I have to work and buy the food that I eat.
