BERGDAHL MATTER REMINDS US: Barack Obama Is The Ultimate Enemy Within
Remember that heartwarming Rose Garden announcement last May, when our Dear Reader, Barack Hussein Obama, flanked by some pony-tailed, Pashtun-babbling guy with a beard that any member of the Taliban would admire, and a woman wearing a figure-hugging frock, announced the release of American “hostage” Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl? How delighted we all were to learn that this serviceman who served, as Obama Regime mouthpiece Susan “it was the reprehensible video!” Rice said, “with honor and distinction” would finally be coming home after five years of captivity in the custody of the Taliban! It turned out that the two special guests were Bergdahl’s former ski bum parents, who I’m ashamed to say looked to me a little bit like aging hippies who could be comfortable hanging out with Bill Ayers and Bernandine Dohrn. MMM …something seemed a little bit off. If I could only put my finger on it …
Within days of this event, the feel-good story started to unravel. First, we learned that Bergdahl had been exchanged for five Taliban high value targets, released from Gitmo, in deliberate violation of the law, which requires the president to give 30 days’ notice prior to such a release. Then we learned that six brave soldiers lost their lives trying to find Bergdahl. Strike three was the testimony of many of his fellow servicemen, strongly suggesting that he not only deserted, but had sought to join up with the Taliban, as in with the enemy, those responsible for harboring the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks.
Wait, why would anyone say something so cruel about a brave American hero, finally re-united with his loved ones? Perhaps the Rolling Stone piece, written by the late Michael Hastings, could shed some light on the matter; specifically, the part in which Bergdahl was quoted as saying: “The future is too good to waste on lies,” Bowe wrote. “And life is way too short to care for the damnation of others, as well as to spend it helping fools with their ideas that are wrong. I have seen their ideas and I am ashamed to even be american. The horror of the self-righteous arrogance that they thrive in. It is all revolting.” Not exactly Chris Kyle sort of patriotic talk from this guy, someone who, remember, his fellow servicemen characterized without qualification as a deserter.
To those who suggest that this deal was a simple prisoner swap, without impact on America’s national security, consider the words of one Taliban commander to The Daily Beast:
It’s party time for the Afghan Taliban. After the release of five senior figures from Guantanamo in exchange for wayward U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, Afghan insurgent leader Mullah Omar sent an optimistic but cautious statement from the shadows where he’s hiding. The Taliban are now “closer to the harbor of victory,” he proclaimed in measured rhetoric. But his fighters on the front line plainly are ecstatic.
Mullah Salem Khan, a Taliban commander in embattled Helmand province, tells The Daily Beast over the telephone that when he heard the news, he pointed his Kalashnikov in the air and emptied 15 rounds toward the skies. “Allah Akbar!” he cried. “God is Great!”
One of those freed, in particular, Mullah Mohammad Fazil, is looked to as a great field commander at a time when those have been in short supply. He is a former deputy defense minister and was in charge of all Taliban troops in northern Afghanistan when the United States launched its invasion in late 2001. He also had a reputation for cruelty in a particularly cruel conflict. But Fazil’s release is “the best news I have heard in at least 12 years,” says Khan. “His return is like pouring 10,000 Taliban fighters into the battle on the side of jihad. Now the Taliban have the right lion to lead them in the final moment before victory in Afghanistan.”
This week, what seemed painfully obvious to everyone last May—well, OK, when I say “everyone,” of course, I’m leaving out Joe Biden—was revealed to be true, or at least alleged, and to be proved by Army prosecutors. Bowe Bergdahl was charged with desertion. That didn’t take long. No, actually it did. The Army completed its investigation of this incident back in October, 2014, but chose not to release any information about it. Those suggesting this 6-month delay had something to do with the November 2014 election belong in the same category with those who say that the May 2014 Rose Garden ceremony had something to do with Obama wanting to bask in the pre-election glow of returning an American “hero”; that is, they are disgusting cynics!
So, here we are with the Taliban 5, under phony “house arrest” in Qatar, where 3 of whom have tried to contact their old terrorist friends, traded for a deserter, the equivalent of the Chicago Cubs trading Lou Brock for some guy. No one can remember his name, but we will all remember the names of those involved in this deal, especially the one of the man responsible for the whole mess, Barack Hussein Obama.
As he endangers our security for cynical political reasons, spits on our ally Israel, and enables the mullahs in Iran as they pursue nuclear weapons, even as they encourage and agree with crowds who chant “Death to America”, the Bergdahl episode should make it crystal clear to everyone that, while America has many enemies, its number one enemy is the occupier of the Oval Office.
