FORMER DEMOCRATIC INTERN KNIFED TO DEATH–Why Doesn’t the Media Seem to Care?

A teen with a knife held the occupants of a Washington, D.C. Metro car hostage. 
 
It’s the stuff that headlines are made of, particularly since the crime occurred July 4, 2015. 
 
Somehow the national mainstream Marxist media missed it. 
 
Passengers boarded the Metro in a celebratory mood. Among them was knife-toting Jasper Spires.
 
“Jasper Spires boarded the Red Line Metro train at Rhode Island Avenue shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday, joining passengers from the District and elsewhere headed to various Fourth of July festivities, among them the Foo Fighters concert at RFK Stadium,” reported the Washington Post. 
 
Also among the passengers was 24-year-old Kevin Joseph Sutherland. It would be his final ride.
 
Spires attempted to snatch a cellphone from Sutherland’s waste band, reports say. When the recent college graduate resisted, Spires used his fists to pound his victim to the floor. Spires pulled a knife, reports say, and began slashing Sutherland until he was dead. 
 
Unlike the much-maligned George Zimmerman who was pounded by Trayvon Martin in 2012, Sutherland had no means to defend himself. 
 
Horrified passengers crowded at both ends of the rail car to escape the violence. Had any one of them had a handgun and the courage to use it, Sutherland’s life could have been spared and Spires may have been the one who died in a pool of blood. 
 
When local news outlets reported the crime, some noted the victim was a former intern for Democratic Connecticut Congressman Jim Himes. 
 
Himes’ office offered their condolences.
 
Why was this not national news?
 
A look at the victim’s Facebook page is revealing. 
 
Recalling the murder of nine innocent black people in Charleston, South Carolina last month, Sutherland wrote, “There is no question this was a racially-motivated hate crime.” 
 
Rare occurrences of white-on-black crime are always racially motivated from the “progressive’s” perspective. They are fodder for the national media, eager to selectively exploit the deaths of some blacks to advance their Marxist agenda. 
 
Black-on-white violence, including the tragic death of Sutherland himself, is simply ignored. 
 
Sutherland’s post continued to bemoan the Confederate flag as a symbol of horrific hate crimes. One must wonder if, in the fleeting last moments of  his life, he contemplated his own impending death at the hand of a crazed black teen as scores of unarmed passengers were forced to observe.
 
Was this, too, racism? Not according to the media. 
 
Was this occasion to revisit gun control? Again, the answer is, “No!”
 
On his personal blog, Sutherland offered a quintessential liberal views on the topic. 
 
He evoked our nation’s founders when he wrote, “Our fight is not merely for new gun control measures or even new mental health programs. It is for the creation of an even more perfect Union. That is why I am a liberal and that is why I am Newtown.”
