#ISITRACIST: What Did Congressman Robert Pittenger Apologize For Exactly?

By Deplorable Andrew Allen

Why did Congressman Robert Pittenger (R-NC, 9th District) apologize for saying “the grievance in their minds, the animus, the anger, they hate white people because white people are successful and they’re not” – “they” in this case being the so-called protesters that rioted and looted uptown Charlotte.

Haven’t we been told that white privilege is to blame for all social ills that afflict society?

Haven’t we been lectured about the sins of money and power unfairly concentrated in the hands of a privileged white few?

Cultural appropriation?

Doesn’t white folks greed fuel a world in need, according to our President?

Didn’t protesters in Charlotte openly state their hatred of non-pigmented persons?

Glass ceilings, wage gaps, disparate unemployment statistics across demographic lines, invisible red lines. Haven’t all these been identified as extensions of a systemic white power structure imposing itself upon communities of color?

Robert Pittenger didn’t say anything any number of leftist activists haven’t asserted vocally or through the burning of a police car during one of their so-called protests. If he was apologizing for momentary alignment with idiots, then apology accepted.

He wasn’t though. He went on to explain via Twitter that his comment:

“doesn’t reflect who I am. I was quoting statements made by angry protesters last night on national TV. My intent was to discuss the lack of economic mobility for African-Americans because of failed policies.”

I for one am sick and tired of the whole “this is not who we are” or “this is not who I am” catch phrase. That it’s baked into – I hate “baked in” too – our current discourse is ridiculous. It’s ridiculous because it’s an extension of our preening, narcissistic culture, but that’s a different story.

To Pittenger’s credit, he did go on to mention generations of largely Democratic social welfare policies that haven’t done a damned thing to improve conditions in America’s inner cities. Isn’t it incredible that any challenge to these policies is treated as anathema? Even though Einstein warned us about trying to solve problems with the tired old thinking that created them in the first place when he said:

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

Yet when the problems are America’s inner cities – and those problems were created exclusively by the jack ass party – the expectation is that Democrats will fix what they have wrought via more programs and policies. To borrow from Einstein: We can’t solve the problems that afflict our inner cities with the same thinking that destroyed our inner cities.

Maybe Pittenger apologized for questioning those policies because there’s an election around the corner and he needs votes. If so, apology unaccepted.

We need leaders that will stand for something, Robert Pittenger, not ones that fall all over themselves trying to appease everyone.
