What is happening to our young people?
The destructive indoctrination of our young people with far-left ideology is extremely dangerous for our kids and our country. It started several years ago but has intensified during the past eight years, and now it’s time for a change. Once upon a time, Academia was a place to discuss, and even argue, opposing views in a climate where this dialogue was not only acceptable but expected. For those of us who participated, it helped us to become adults who could appreciate diverse views and it helped us to become critical thinkers.
Unfortunately, the atmosphere in today’s college classroom lacks openness and civility. If a student has the audacity to have a different opinion than the professor and some of the other classmates, that student is shut up. Dissention is not tolerated. How has this happened?
Many schools have hired an overabundance of ultra-liberal faculty, who are pushing the progressive and frequently Communist agenda. Sadly, these students are absorbing this garbage. Any faculty member who opposes any of this is soon removed. Such was the case of Michael Rectenwald, a New York University professor who posted his opposition to political correctness on Facebook. He was forced to go on paid leave because some of his colleagues complained about his “incivility”.
Another area of behavior that is alarming is the academic pandering to “pussification”. The end product of this behavior is an adult who is still a child. When we speak of “pussification” let’s look at some of the acts of stupidity going on all over America which personifies this:
Relaxation stations with coloring books, puppies, massages, food, acupuncture and hot chocolate to alleviate the stress of taking exams.
Students at Brown University complained that homework is interfering with their activism. They also state that race relations is more important than free speech.
After months of protesting, students complain of emotional stress and poor grades, and blame the school for insisting that they complete their course work.
Barnard students mourn Hillary’s loss in the election with feminist coloring pages.
At several schools, professors delayed exams and course work because students were so upset about the outcome of the election.
What is so appalling and even frightening is that these “little flowers” will be our next generation to lead this country. These young people have no guts, no critical thinking skills, and have only heard the ravings of ultra-liberal and Commie professors for four years. They are so into political correctness, which is not only stupid but destructive. They have digested all this crap for four years and are like robots who have never had an original thought. They are offended by almost everything that does not fit the agenda put forth by their professors. This is a generation of sheltered, selfish, self-absorbed, spoiled brats.
Colleges are not the only ones to blame…how about the parents? Many have instilled the idea into their little darlings’ heads that they will always be there to protect them, that they don’t have to do anything on their own, and that they deserve to get everything they want. It is imperative that parents teach their kids to take responsibility for their actions, that no one owes you anything, that success comes from hard work, and that whining will get you nowhere in the world. That’s the parent’s role, to turn this around.
The colleges need to get rid of the ultra-left faculty and administrators and start teaching self-sufficiency and that it’s okay and necessary to have differing opinions. Political correctness needs to go, in our society, as well as in Academia. It’s not hard, it’s just something that’s absolutely necessary to help our young people to become responsible, caring, American adults.
