The man who spent so much of this election in the spotlight will now get some attention of ANOTHER kind.
Inspector General Michael Horowitz says the investigation will look at whether department or FBI policies were followed in relation to Comey’s actions in the case, whether the FBI deputy director should have been recused from the investigation, and allegations that department officials improperly disclosed nonpublic information to the Clinton campaign.
His investigation comes in response to requests from both Republicans and Democrats.
Horowitz said it came following ‘requests from numerous Chairmen and Ranking Members of Congressional oversight committees, various organizations, and members of the public,’ according to Politico. Only Republicans chair committees.
The portion of the review pertaining to Comey will review ‘allegations that Department or FBI policies or procedures were not followed in connection with, or in actions leading up to or related to’ Comey’s July press conference, his Oct. 28 letter, and his letter to Congress on November 6, two days before the election. —DailyMail
There were all KINDS of weird things going on with this case.
Of course, Hillary’s team are focussed on the announcement, 11 days before the election, that brought her emails back into the national conversation. They think THAT is the big story.
Others might be interested in the political/financial connection between Hillary’s financial backer and the deputy looking into the case.
Or perhaps Comey tying himself NOT recommending charges be laid. While inventing a ‘Hillary Defense’ that had no precedent in law.
And then trying to square that decision with this:
Or why people who’ve done the same thing or less have the book thrown at them.
Maybe we’ll take a little look at Loretta’s involvement, too! Wouldn’t THAT be nice? Be sure to take a little look into that Tarmac conversation with someone who was under investigation. And the fact that Hillary — that same week — offered her a job (if that isn’t a ‘financial inducement’, what is?) if she were elected. (Or more specifically, job security in a situation where she was GUARANTEED to be out of work if her opponent won.)
Maybe once they start digging deeper, Democrats will wish we hadn’t.
Or at least wish that Hillary hadn’t been so stupid/arrogant as to have that private server that caused this mess in the first place.
