ESPN: On Day 100 Employees Are Laid Off … Twitter Lights Up Over VERY Ironic Advertiser
It wasn’t INTENDED to be insensitive. But–
The announcement hit them hard. One hundred employees at ESPN laid off.
Even ESPN admits that their downfall is (at least in part) due to making SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT shows into political soapboxes.
If those who feel that the reason ESPN is sliding off the cliff is their insistence for waxing political while ignoring sports needed ammunition, they’ve got it now: a famed ESPN host who has served the network for 25 years agrees with them.
On Thursday, SportsCenter anchor Linda Cohn admitted that the huge staff reductions announced this week are a result of the network’s penchant for broadcasting politics instead of sports.
Appearing on 77 WABC’s Bernie and Sid show, Cohn said one reason was the political nature of the network’s programming. She stated, “That is definitely a percentage of it. I don’t know how big a percentage, but if anyone wants to ignore that fact, they’re blind.” —DailyWire
We’re just pointing out the ironic humor (or cynicism) that Twitter lit up with.
ESPN, even amid the layoffs has to keep advertising. It’s how the bills get paid. Naturally.
But did it HAVE to be this PARTICULAR advertiser? On this Particular day?
Who was it?
ZipRecruiter!

Whoops.
That may have been a TAD insensitive.
Silver lining? Maybe they were just being ‘helpful’.
