FREE SPEECH: Conservatives MUST Back Ann Coulter’s Vow to Hold Cancelled Berkeley Event

The endless tide of liberal, violent, fascist, disruptive riots which have swept across the nation’s campuses have been tacitly celebrated in the boardrooms of college administrations for too long. Now, once more the University of California at Berkeley which had a reputation for supporting “free speech”, has given conservative pundit Ann Coulter the stiff arm by cancelling her scheduled appearance on the university campus April 27th. According to the Washington Post, she is fighting back.

Coulter is sending a very strong and very necessary message to the administrators and the liberal intelligentsia that carefully craft the war against conservative speak on America’s college campuses. She has pledged to keep her date with destiny and show up to speak at Berkeley. As she laughingly responded to interviewers this week, “What are they going to do, arrest me?”

The conservative author and activist has a point. She followed all of the ridiculous exceptions and hoops the university put her through in a concerted effort to dissuade her from appearing on campus. She was not deterred. They were focused on shutting down conservative free speech by any means necessary. When Coulter did not co-operate, they abruptly cancelled her.

Defiant in the cause of protecting true free speech, she emphasized, “They just up and announced that I was prohibited from speaking anyway.” She added, “I feel like the Constitution is important and that taxpayer-supported universities should not be using public funds to violate American citizens’ constitutional rights.”

By not bowing down and submitting to the snowflake radicals who have been poisoned at the mainstream media and lectured in classrooms by socialist-minded professors, the gauntlet has been thrown down. She is showing America that conservative speakers on college campuses are not the lawbreakers, but instead it is the intolerant college propaganda-belching, radicalized students who engage in active disruption and rioting that must be firmly dealt with.

Unfortunately for conservatives, the savaging of their First Amendment freedom of speech protections are not new. In February, school administrators canceled a talk by former Breitbart writer Milo Yiannopoulos, as intense protests and rioting broke out. So much for tolerance. What are conservative parents learning from this display of uncontrolled and obviously tolerated behavior? One lesson is clear, do not send your children to this school, because freedom of thought has been obliviated

But the war on campus conservative free speech goes much deeper than just those two recent instances. In fact, according to Fox News, in 2014 many students at Rutgers University went literally ballistic when it was revealed that former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was due to give the commencement address. Their escalating defiant protests resulted in her canceling her appearance at the university.

Just in case you were feeling that the uproar against conservative free speech was a Left Coast occurrence, take a look how Yiannopoulos was treated in 2016 when students engaged in their brown-shirted protest tactics to protest his scheduled appearances at the University of Miami College, Florida Atlantic University, Villanova University and DePaul University. The proverbial well of authentic free and open dialogue has been poisoned and conservatives need to stop tolerating this.

When brainwashed snowflake students begin to engage in violent protests that result in setting fires, throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at buildings and attacking innocent conservative members of the crowd who are trying to get into hear the speaker, they are now deemed criminals and swift punishment must be dealt out. The coddling and protecting of their “safe place” is over, and immediate accommodations must be made for them at the local jail and eventually area prison, no exceptions.
