Last week I discussed Robert Spencer and his exposure of the truth about Islam and jihad. This week I will discuss David Horowitz — a liberal turned conservative.
David Horowitz was born on January 10, 1939 to Phil and Blanche Horowitz, both of whom were teachers and members of the Communist Party (thus making him a “red diaper baby”). He learned to embrace the Left during his youth, and during the 1970s he became associated with the Black Panthers, due to Civil Rights being one of his main causes. He would soon learn the violent ways of that organization, given their notoriety for violence and torture (as well as drug dealing).
In 1974, the Black Panthers told Horowitz they needed to hire an accountant. Horowitz recommended a friend of his, Betty Van Patter. Not long after Van Patter was hired, her body was found floating in the San Francisco Bay. She had been killed by the Black Panthers because they felt she knew too much due to her various inquiries. The murder of Van Patter, in addition to the suicide of another friend who had been paralyzed after being shot by the Black Panthers, led Horowitz to do some soul-searching. He not only turned against the Black Panthers, but also against the Left. As a result, he has become one of America’s leading conservative activists.
David Horowitz has written many articles (including online articles), booklets, and pamphlets. He has also written many books, including Radical Son: A Generational Odyssey; Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left; The Professors: 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America; The Shadow Party: How George Soros, Hillary Clinton, and the Sixties Radicals Seized Control of the Democratic Party; and Indoctrination U.: The Left’s War Against Academic Freedom. He has also co-authored several books, as well as editing several books. He has even been a contributor to a few periodicals.
In addition to his extensive bibliography, David Horowitz has maintained a website — FrontPage Magazine, with the purpose of informing the public about the Left and radical Islam.
