Today’s topic? FLOTUS and our Military. Melania Vs. Michelle.
Melania Trump took a moment in a rare public speech to single out our armed forces for special mention:
The first lady also thanked the service members for sacrificing on behalf of the US.
‘I also want to take a moment to thank you all for the sacrifices you make on behalf of our country,’ she said.
She says it’s because of their ‘selfless commitment’ and the sacrifices their families make that Americans are able to enjoy many freedoms.
‘To the families who endure time apart or constant time apart, your sacrifices do not go unnoticed.’ — Read More
Early indications seem to suggest that the Trump family is being warmly welcomed by the men and women in uniform… right from day one!
Remember how Melania made headlines after she ‘took a twirl’ the Inaugural Ball?
She spoke with Staff Sergeant Jose Medina. Took an interest in him, personally. Asked questions. Caught up with him after and took photos.
In short… she treated him like he MATTERED.
Exactly the opposite of what the Celebrity-Obsessed Obamas who just vacated the place would have done.
He asked her permission to give her a ‘twirl’ on the dance floor. She accepted. And the crowd loved it.
Would Michelle Obama have condescended to dance with ‘the help’?
We’re guessing ‘no’. She was so very busy hobnobbing with millionaire celebrities at her soirees.
In fact one Marine called her out:
It sickens me that I have to take time to write you this letter. I am a Marine who doesn’t recognize color because every color has lived and died for you. You live in a free country to blame your poor pathetic life on the color of another man’s skin. All colors have given their lives for an educated woman to have the freedom to be so ignorant. I don’t blame black people for the ignorance that comes from your mouth. I love all colors because I love all that God creates. I don’t have to like you to love you and today is no different. I don’t like you or your husband because of your character hidden behind your skin. Isn’t it funny how the truth always reveals itself in time. You and your husband never showed this side of yourselves in 2008 before he was elected. — Read More
Obama himself had his ‘farewell’ speech in front of an empty room. For some reason, the military didn’t rush to fill those seats… even though Dubya’s farewell was in front of a packed house.
That makes sense in light of this survey result:
More than half of troops surveyed in the latest Military Times/Institute for Veterans and Military Families poll said they have an unfavorable opinion of Obama and his two-terms leading the military. About 36 percent said they approve of his job as commander in chief.
Their complaints include the president’s decision to decrease military personnel (71 percent think it should be higher), his moves to withdraw combat troops from Iraq (59 percent say it made America less safe) and his lack of focus on the biggest dangers facing America (64 percent say China represents a significant threat to the U.S.)
But more than two-thirds support Obama’s mantra that securing America means building strong alliances with foreign powers. And more than 60 percent think his use of drones and special forces teams for precision strikes — instead of large-scale military operations — has helped U.S. national security.
But here’s YOUR chance to weigh in.
