Is this just another one of those ‘big-city’ attacks London’s Mayor told us we’d have to get used to?
Paris cops — because they have guns, and don’t mess around — stopped a would-be terrorist dead in his tracks. Literally.
Unlike the 8-minute response time we saw in London, Police on the scene at the LASTEST Paris attack were immediately prepared to respond. And they did exactly that.
French police cordoned off Paris’ iconic avenue the Champs Elysees on Monday afternoon and warned people not to approach the area.
A man drove a white Renault Megane into a Gendarmerie van on the busy street just before 4 p.m. local time (14.00 UTC). The French Interior Ministry said it was a deliberate attack and that the car was laden with explosives.
The 31-year-old Parisian perpetrator, who was known to authorities, died in the attack.
“This car contained a certain number of weapons, and explosives that could have been used to blow up the car,” Interior Minister Gerard Collomb Collomb said.
The incident “shows once again that the threat level in France is extremely high.”
News agency AFP reported that a Kalashnikov rifle, handguns and gas bottles were found in the car, citing unnamed police sources. — Read More
