Oh boy. That’s a crapload of stupid to answer in one piece. Where should we begin?
Alright – Sunny Hostin said that Republicans should not have a corner for setting the moral agenda for the Country.
Sorry. You can’t have it both ways. If you are going to claim BIBLICAL authority for why Christians ought to take Democrats’ moral claims seriously, you to explain why when it comes to platform and official policies Democrats are — literally — Zero-For-Ten when it comes to the Ten Commandments. They’re not off to a good start. But let’s keep going.
She tries to sum up what faith ought to look like. Justice and mercy. (Those are some great words IF you mean the same thing the author did, which you probably don’t. Does she know that she’s quoting Micah 6:8.) That’s a better try than Whoopie’s God-hating rant that follows.
But she left something out. Let’s give the WHOLE quote. (In this case, from the New King James version)
He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?
Where is the ‘humbly with your God’ in their quote? Because that detail changes EVERYTHING.
Fotunately, we don’t have to GUESS what Jesus thought. He was straight up ASKED about the Greatest Commandment. Here’s the conversation.
Matt 22:36-40“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
While these chicks are trying to cram God into their little Progressive box, Christ made exactly the opposite point. The life of the faithful is found allowing your own life to be measured and corrected by God, not by sacrificing your religious beliefs on the altar of secular dogma.
At least Whoopi was honest in why she rejects Christian morality:
“What if you’re not a Christian? Jesus’s words don’t have the same respect–”
But then she runs to hide behind moral relativism. A morally wothless ideology. Listen to her argument:
WHOOPI: Here’s the thing. If you believe that abortion is morally wrong, then you never have to have one. The law doesn’t say you have to have an abortion. The law says if you feel you need to, we are not going to stand in your way. And that is how the law should read. [cheers and applause]
First off, did you happen to notice she was declaring that her ideology is what should be codified in law, immediately after saying that what Christians believe should NOT?
Second: Her answer shows a fundamental lack of understanding of what –exactly– is at issue.
Leftist like her assume the Right are ignorant Rubes who just don’t ‘GET’ the issues invovled, and don’t really understand the Left’s assertions.
Are you kidding? We are bombarded with their *ahem* ‘Views’ from every possible angle. TV. Music. Movies. Academia. Public school. Social media. Blah, blah, blah.
Many of us on the right could present the left’s actual views on most major issues as well as (sometimes better than) they can present it themselves. But a shocking number of Leftists are woefully ignorant of what we actually believe, retreating instead into the talking points and straw men given to them ABOUT us from leftist sources like Huffpo and Vox.
You talk about abortion like it’s removing a tumor, and you think the Right resents that and wants control of your uterus.
Are you stupid? Do we stand in the way of a D&C? Do we object to the removal of a cyst? You’re arguing about the wrong issue entirely.
It’ isn’t a tumor. You are arguing for the freedom to remove a tumor.
We are calling for you not to kill a child. Don’t be so quick to dismiss that, either. Precisely the same arguments that support the case for abortion are now being offered by UNIVERSITIES to morally defend the killing of Born-Alive babies.
University of Chicago Professor: Infanticide Is Morally Acceptable
A number of Universities support that case. Since the SAME arguments you would use to defend infanticide are used to prop up abortion, should we be ok with murdering Infants, now, too, Whoopi? If not, why not?
Let’s test your ‘if you don’t like abortion, don’t have one’ argument against OTHER key moral issues.
If you don’t like slavery, don’t own a slave.
If you don’t like forcibly removing a girl’s clitoris (FGM), don’t do it to YOUR daughter.
If you don’t like Gas guzzling SUV’s, don’t drive one.
If you don’t like fur coats, don’t wear one.
If you don’t like gun ownership, don’t buy one.
If you don’t like ‘the N-word’, don’t say it.
If you don’t like Controversial Speakers on Campus, don’t listen to them.
If you don’t like Obamacare, don’t buy it.
Those arguments don’t fit in her little grid, do they?
Those of us on the LIFE side of this issue don’t see a question that will be solved by discussing the rights of the person with the womb.
We hear Whoopie making the case for a much different issue.
You are asking us to be ok with Hitler gassing the Jews.
As long as we believe you are extermintaing life, we CANNOT be ok with that, no matter WHAT arguments you present about the mother. (Don’t be so quick to dismiss the Holocaust argument until you’ve seen THIS about Margaret Sanger.)
