About healthcare…
Prior to the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), imposed upon America by Barack Hussein Obama and his Democrat buddies, we had an excellent health care system. According to the lefties, this was to be the most wonderful healthcare program in the world, where everyone was fully covered and received excellent care. For the Progressives this was to be the precursor to Socialized Medicine which they had worked so hard to attain.
The ACA was passed by the Senate on December 24th, 2009. That was Christmas Eve and it was passed in the wee hours of the morning with not one Republican vote. If it was so great, why the secrecy, and why did Nancy Pelosi say, “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it”? They were so anxious to help Obama “fundamentally transform America” that nobody bothered to look at this piece of garbage bill and it was surrounded with dishonesty and subterfuge. Obamacare turned out to be a bloody disaster with patients unable to see their long time physicians and premiums skyrocketing. The Democrats are still trying to preserve this mess as it implodes before our eyes. Their goal is to destroy the private healthcare market.
Liberals are in love with the English and Canadian healthcare systems and want to duplicate them here. There is nothing great about either the British or Canadian systems. Currently, the United Kingdom has one of the worst health care systems in the world. Many Canadians come to the United States for medical care and pay out of their own pockets. This is due to the delays and inferior care in their own country. The British system of Socialized Medicine is abominable. There are shortages of beds, supplies, physicians, nurses, and money. Patients experience long wait times just to be seen by a physician. There is an eighteen, or more, week delay for elective surgery. The survival rates are much lower for many diseases.
For example, in England, the survival rate for prostate cancer is 44.3%. In the United States, it is 81.2%. In short, the quality of care in England, is atrocious, and their National Health Service has a death rate four times higher than the United States, following major surgery. This, according to a study by the University College, London, and Columbia University.
Canadians are not faring any better because they have a four-and-a-half month wait for necessary treatments after referral by a General Practitioner. They wait four-plus months for elective surgery and to have an MRI they wait at least two months. They have no access to certain life-saving drugs such as ERBITUX for cancer.
Now, the National Health Service of Britain has started to ration care due to a money shortage. They recently announced that patients would be banned from important surgery if they are overweight, or smoke tobacco. These new restrictions were criticized by the Royal College of Surgeons and many other medical groups. So, a patient who is overweight and has not lost the number of pounds that the government says they need to lose, may never receive the surgery they need. This is outrageous, and this is what happens when the government is allowed to control health care.
If the government can deny a patient access to surgery because of weight, then what comes next? Can it be for age as well? The elderly will be prime targets since they need a great deal of various treatments and procedures. Will denial of hip and knee replacements, and cataract surgery be coming down the pike? Remember the Charlie Gard case, where a sick child was denied life-saving surgery, even though there were physicians who desperately wanted to give this kid a chance to live?
We, in the United States of America, should never succumb to the Socialist ranting of Bernie Sanders, who promises to give health care and everything else, away, free. He likes the Communist way, where the state controls your life and, while they’re at it, expedites your death. We must remain free of Big Brother and live our lives as we see fit. We should always maintain a free market system with choices. Obamacare is imploding and the Democrats, along with the RINOs, are trying to save it from a certain death. Let it die.
What we really need is health insurance which can be bought like you might buy a car. You go to a “dealer” (insurance company) and select the model you want and then add the options that you want. If, for some reason, they don’t meet your price, you find another “dealer”.
Last word: As Americans we have a tradition of independence, freedom of thought and action. Don’t let the Socialists suck you into their lies about giving you free stuff. That stuff will cost you dearly. That cost will be the most precious thing that a person can have…freedom.
