Weinstein Scandal Exposes Even Greater Hollywood Hypocrisy

Recently it has been made public that Hollywood producer & executive Harvey Weinstein is facing accusations of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape. The list of accusers includes the following actresses: Rosanna Arquette, Kate Beckinsale, Cara Delevingne, Angie Everhart, Heather Graham, Eva Green, Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd, Minka Kelly, Mia Kirshner, Rose McGowan, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Mira Sorvino. The fallout from such accusations has resulted in Weinstein being denounced not only throughout Hollywood, but by various politicians (including those to whose campaigns he had contributed).
The question is: why did it take so long for all of these women to come forward? Did they fear that doing so would end their careers? Was it due to a potential lack of interest in the mainstream liberal media (especially since they were slow to report on the matter)? Or was it due to their own liberal (e.g. feminist) hypocrisy? Perhaps it was a combination of all three factors.
These accusations further demonstrate just how hypocritical Hollywood can be. While morals and traditional values are emphasized at times in various movies and television series (particularly anything that was family-themed), those actors or actresses who starred in such films or television series had a tendency to be the opposite of the moralistic characters they portray.
Various Hollywood figures have taken up liberal causes, including gun control, abortion, the legalization of drugs, and same-sex marriages. And in the past decade Hollywood has become more liberal, even to the point of making sure that everyone in the film industry supports liberal political figures. Those who do not toe the line are out of a job. A prime example would be Barrack Obama, in which people in Hollywood were quizzed on how they felt about him.
Of course, not everyone in Hollywood is liberal. Hollywood conservatives do exist, and they include the following: Chuck Norris, Clint Eastwood, Jon Voight, Kevin Sorbo, Angie Harmon, James Woods, and Tim Allen. And those are just the a-listers.
There is no doubt of b-listers in Hollywood who are conservative as well. But as I mentioned earlier, the liberal stranglehold in Hollywood has prevented many of them from voicing their political opinions, for fear of their careers being over if they do.
In conclusion, it is way past time for Hollywood to clean itself up and return to its days of promoting good, old-fashioned American values. In the wake of the Weinstein scandal, that might just happen.
