Rick Warren — the game hunter, not the megachurch pastor — had an idea that he figured would inspire children, and raise awareness for animal conservation.
Where ‘animal rights’ activists spend so much of their energy shouting and shaming anyone who doesn’t share their view, Warren has a different idea.
He is giving children — of all ages — an opportunity to walk though a recreation of the Africa. Complete with 350-400 mammals, plus birds, he bought and converted a former church building to teach about nature.

But the NIMBY (not-in-my-back-yard) principle kicked in, and the neighbors are objecting.
They give all the usual complaints — what about traffic? What about noise? What about music played outdoors?
(Really? Aren’t you grasping at straws just a little?)
Could this be part of their real objection?
Some of his neighbors are IDEOLOGICALLY opposed to the museum, and he’s had people yell ‘murderer!’ out of their car windows.
So basically, they want to shove their values down Rich’s throat.
Maybe they don’t actually care about the children.
