The MeToo Movement is now pitting Feminist against Feminist.
For those who don’t really care about Feminist politics, there’s something you’ll need to know for this story to make sense.
Today’s Feminists are a very different breed than yesteryear’s.
(They are called Second Wave and either Third-Wave or Intersectional feminists.)
Second Wave feminists were championing the ‘powerful woman’ image.
Think: Strong as a man, smart as a man. Or think of that song ‘anything you can do I can do better‘.
But today’s crowd has victimization as a currency, not strength. The more victim points you have the more important you are. (Think Linda Sarsour’s I Was An ‘Ordinary White Girl’ ‘Til I Put On A Hijab)
That difference puts us in some weird positions.
Like when an icon from the Second wave strong women movement calls out Hollywood snowflakes for the Casting Couch hypocrisy. Her name is Germaine Greer, and she is NOT well-liked by today’s feminists.
In an interview before the event, Greer said: “I want, I’ve always wanted, to see women react immediately. In the old days, there were movies – the Carry On comedies, for example – which always had a man leering after women. And the women always outwitted him – he was a fool. We weren’t afraid of him and we weren’t afraid to slap him down.”
She then added: “What makes it different is when the man has economic power, as Harvey Weinstein has. But if you spread your legs because he said ‘be nice to me and I’ll give you a job in a movie’ then I’m afraid that’s tantamount to consent, and it’s too late now to start whingeing about that.”
“I want women to react here and now,” Greer continued. “I want the woman on a train who feels a man’s hand where it shouldn’t be… to be able to say quite clearly, ‘Stop.’ It’s the same old, same old. What is there about ‘no’ that you don’t understand?”

Something has gone horribly wrong.
Even consent that is given at the time can now be retroactively revoked, and wind up destroying the guy who thought everything was ok.
We’re past the point of no just meaning no. We’re at the point where yes no longer really means yes. Even after the fact.
Either the culture is ‘sexually liberated’ or we are not. You can’t have it both ways.
We’re seeing a bandwagon destruction on Leftist ‘Feminist’ Aziz Ansari. Why? Because the woman he took home, who voluntarily got naked at his house performed a sex act on him — twice — and received one … anonymously called him out as having harassed her, publicly dragged him through the media wringer. Why? Becuase he was supposed to have picked up on non-verbal cues of discomfort from a naked stranger who came up to his apartment after a date, stripped naked and put his member in her mouth.
Sorry, dear. That’s one HELL of a mixed message you’re sending.
Both that story and (some of) the Weinstein ones have this in common.
Women are CONSENTING to be sexually available to a man and then blaming him for it.
If you have consented to the ‘casting couch’ believing it would get you the big role in the film that might otherwise go to someone else? Is it ‘wrong’ and ‘harrassment’? Sure. But that’s not just harassment. It’s something more.
You have voluntarily prostituted yourself.
It’s an unpleasant fact. But one that needs to be said.
Was she over the top? Or is she right on target?
Did Greer go too far with her statement?
