You’d think he checks all the right intersectional boxes to be an obvious Dem supporter for sure, right?
He just gave them the finger, and switched parties.
Will the Dems learn from their mistakes? Or will they keep repeating them into the next election?

Rob Smith served for 5 years in the United States Army as an Infantryman and deployed to both Kuwait and Iraq, earning the Army Commendation Medal and Combat Infantry Badge in the process. In 2010 he was arrested at the White House with 12 other LGBT activists in protest of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law which barred lesbian, gay, and bisexual soldiers from serving openly, and he was later a guest of President Barack Obama at the ceremony that repealed the law. He has spoken about veterans’ issues and LGBT rights and empowerment at dozens of college campuses, pride events, and corporate functions across the United States, including Vanderbilt University, Virginia Tech, the Reaching Out LGBT MBA Conference, and the 2014 Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender and Allies College Conference among many more. In 2014, he served as the Grand Marshal of the Key West Pride Parade, and was a featured speaker at the NYC Pride Rally. He’s been featured on HLN’s The Daily Share, Huffpost Live, Dr. Drew On Call, and CNN. He is a recipient of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) award for Excellence In Blogging and the 2016 Gay City News LGBT Impact Award for multimedia coverage of issues impacting the LGBT community. He holds an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University.
Nobody’s going to write him off as a crank. How could they without invalidating some of the things on that list that the Left holds so very dear?
But now he’s gone and switched teams. Politically, anyway.
Rob Smith, author of a 2017 book about being a gay man in the military during the ‘don’t’ ask, don’t’ tell’ era, is a registered Democrat and was raised in a liberal working-class family in Ohio. But he said that over the past couple of years what he considers to be left-wing outrage culture has pushed him to become conservative.
He did not vote in the 2016 election but wants to buck what he said is a stereotype that African Americans and LGBTQ people are always liberal Democrats.
Smith, who lives with his husband in New York City, is ‘coming out’ publicly, prompted in part by Kanye West being roundly lambasted for his support of President Donald Trump.
He said: ‘For me, as a gay man and a black man, I have to… Somebody has to start the conversation, specifically with LGBTQ people, to say being a Democrat is not a sign of morality and being a Republican is not a sign of evil. We can work on both sides to advance this idea of LGBTQ equality, we just have to figure out what that is.’

How many events like this have to happen… how many people being ‘red-pilled’ and crossing from the Democrats to the ‘evil’ Republican side … before it officially qualifies as a ‘trend’?
Whatever the case, it’s not a good sign for anyone in the ‘resistance’ who has been counting on the ‘Blue Wave’ to rescue them, and lead the charge to ‘impeach 45’.
Whatever will the likes of Maxine Waters do then?
