Last week, I said that this week’s installment would be kind of a “part 2” from the “Liberals Do So Much Stuff That I Don’t Understand” column of that week. You’ll find out as you read this that a logical conclusion to liberalism results in destruction. That’s where the idea for the cannon fodder title comes in.
Cannon fodder is a term that’s somewhat archaic. For you millennials out there, archaic means something old and not commonly used anymore. (Much like concepts such as courtesy, common sense and having a work ethic…but I digress.)
Cannon fodder is an informal, somewhat derogatory term for soldiers who are treated as totally expendable in the face of enemy fire. This often refers to the foot soldiers, the infantry. The word fodder means food for cattle. Metaphorically, soldiers often become “food” for enemy cannon fire.
This concept of soldiers as food for consumption in battle goes as far back as the 16th century. The first recorded use of” cannon fodder” is credited to French writer Francois-Rene’ de Chateaubriand as a criticism towards Napoleon’s attitude. The term was first used in English around 1893 and came into extensive use during WWI.
Okay, so much for the history lesson. If you are simply paying attention to what liberalism is trying to accomplish, you’ll understand (I hope…) that liberal policies revolve around the concept that the end result (control) is more important that the means (method) of achieving the goal.
Look at the school shootings we’ve experienced recently. Follow this reasoning: at the start, liberals do not believe in punishing criminals. Therefore, that creates a mind-set among those with certain mental tendencies that they can do whatever they want without serious consequences to themselves. Liberals have a well-documented hatred for the Second Amendment simply because that allows citizens to protect themselves against a tyrannical government by having the right to “keep and bear”…wait for it…firearms. Therefore, the use of a firearm to create an atrocity such as a school shooting is proof that the gun is to blame, not the shooter. Therefore, liberals and their policy of not wanting to punish criminals allows for the use of our schools as shooting galleries where the students are turned into cannon fodder.
The end goal is the repeal of 2A and the confiscation of all weapons owned by American citizens.
Empirically, you need to understand that liberals, their policies and their goals have turned our school kids into targets.
Our immigration policy, or lack thereof, is another example of the attempt to turn American citizens into cannon fodder for criminals. Once again, let’s start with a premise: if you come into this country illegally, you are therefore a criminal. (In all honesty, BOTH parties have had the opportunity to do something about it, but haven’t. However, after eight years of Barack Hussein Obama, it’s gotten worse.)
In last week’s installment, I mentioned the murder of Kate Steinle in San Francisco at the hands of a five-time-deported Mexican criminal “immigrant”. San Francisco’s status as a sanctuary city draws garbage like this guy to it with the end result that law abiding American citizens can potentially become cannon fodder, as did Ms. Steinle. However, therefore, the city’s sanctuary status did not allow for the proper means to deal with the shooter. He was acquitted of murder but found guilty of being a felon in possession of a fire arm.
Consider that this unfortunate incident and others like it are being repeated across the country. How many stories are there of illegals who have gotten driver’s licenses and then killed someone in a wreck? Empirically, understand that the end game for liberals here is to bring in more and more illegals who will not assimilate, not learn English, will not be able to work and will therefore live off the government (i.e. taxpayers) and will in the end vote Democrat. The presence of every one of them makes American citizens potential cannon fodder. And for what…votes?
The liberal viewpoint of crime itself has managed to turn the American public into nothing but cannon fodder. As mentioned already, liberals have done away with any harsh consequences for even the most egregious crimes. Anyone sentenced to death gets to automatically go through the appeals process. How many “appeals” did their victims get? Consequently, by controlling the “criminal justice” process, liberals have normalized criminal behavior. And therefore, criminals no longer have any real fear of consequences.
Another method of turning American citizens into cannon fodder is economic. While higher taxes is the norm for liberals, it is not just taxation that can turn Americans into economic cannon fodder. There are two other methods liberals use to accomplish that.
The first is health care. The comically named Affordable Care Act (known as Obamacare) was anything but. In the first place, at no other time in American history has the federal government required its citizens to purchase a product from a third party, with failure to do so resulting in a financial penalty. I personally know of someone whose insurance premium for himself and his family went from $350 a month to $1400. That’s a 300% increase, in just one month. Not exactly affordable.
In many cases, folks found it was cheaper to pay the penalty than the premiums. Therefore, what the liberals created was a vast part of the American population who still had to fork over a lot of cash but still had no insurance, which was the new “requirement” in the first place. That’s creating economic cannon fodder.
The other example is the mind-numbing, unending, egregious regulations that were put in place on American businesses during the Barak Hussein Obama regime. While going into specific regulations within specific industries would not be possible in a short article, let’s look at one way of using regulations on businesses to create cannon fodder.
One “regulation” that makes absolutely no sense is the requirement of a baker to bake a cake (or anything for that matter) for a gay wedding or other event, when that baker’s personal religious beliefs are in conflict with the LGBT community. More than one privately owned bakery was devastated and ended up closing because of the cost and stress of the litigation brought against them. There were also florists who had to deal with the same type of regulation that brought the same results to their businesses.
Everything that liberalism touches ends up being either damaged or completely destroyed. Consider the ancient Greek myth of King Midas. He was granted a wish and in his greed asked to have the ability to turn anything he touched into gold. In one version of the myth, he starved to death because he could no longer eat. In another version, he turned his own beloved daughter into gold and ended up losing his throne.
The moral of this ancient Greek myth is more than applicable to modern liberalism. In the end, liberals will destroy everything they need for survival and will also bring down their own supporters. For a party that claims to represent the workers and care about the disenfranchised of society, the elite Democrats/liberals are more than willing to treat as cannon fodder anyone, and even their own foot soldiers, if it means, in the end, total control.
Liberals are starting to turn on their own regardless of any past allegiances. The end result of control, to them, justifies their cannon fodder. But we’re waking up, we know.
There’s a lot of scripture that is pertinent to how liberals use up their own resources and people. In Proverbs, though, there are several chapters that compare and contrast righteousness and wickedness. Here are two of the best verses in my humble opinion:
Prov. 14:12: ”There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Prov. 16:12: “It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness; for the throne is established by righteousness.”
