There is a good chance you remember the “Choose Your Own Adventure” series of books for children and young adults. My favorite was “The Mystery of Chimney Rock. For a couple of reasons. Who doesn’t love a good, scary story?
And, as a kid, the I was fascinated by the way the reader (me) could make particular choices and end up essentially in an endless loop within the story – for example, the choices that lead to a broken vase that, no matter how hard one tries to clean up the mess, can’t be cleaned up thanks to the curse of Chimney Rock.
What I never expected to find, in any of the “Choose Your Own Adventure” books, was that in the year 2018 the Democrats, Democratic-Socialists (anyone notice how this term has entered our political vocabulary as though it has always been there when, in fact, it literally just appeared a week ago or so?), left, and the like would offer America a real life version of “Choose Your Own Adventure”?
The choice they offer is simple. You can support them and their “Abolish ICE” agenda. (That too didn’t exist in sane circles until what, like a week or so ago?). In doing so, think of the path your life story and that of America at large will follow.
Democrats/Democratic-Socialists/Leftists depend increasingly on three groups for votes these days because they’ve lost everybody else. Specifically, for votes they need:
– People with a felony on their records.
– People age 16 or 17.
– People that sneak across the southern border of the United States for whatever reason is currently in vogue according to left-leaning sources. Let’s face it, the excuse varies constantly. One day the left supports a modern-day plantation state in which “immigrants” receive sweatshop wages to “do the jobs Americans just won’t do”. The next day the left says they are all refugees fleeing such conditions in Central America. The day after that the left says every “immigrant” is Einstein all over again.
(What does it say about Democrats, Democratic-Socialists, and the left that they are ever increasingly dependent upon these three groups for political support at the expense of all others?)
In fairness, there are legitimate discussions that can be had over whether felons that have served their time and re-entered society should have their voting rights restored. In fairness, there is no legitimate reason to permit the vast majority of sixteen- and seventeen-year-olds to vote for anything more consequential than Prom Queen – you can make an allowance for that rare sixteen- or seventeen-year-old thrust into early adulthood through reasons beyond his or her control.
As for the border? We either have one or we don’t. Newsflash for all the open borders advocates – there isn’t a single nation on the face of Gaia today that doesn’t have borders and along with it, border enforcement. Mexican enforcement of their southern border, compared with America’s border enforcement, is particularly harsh replete with fines and no nonsense extended prison sentences. You think images of kids in cages from Obama’s 2014 are harsh? Mexico dispenses with the cages and puts ‘em in regular lockup. Is it any wonder MS13 had little trouble with their recruitment efforts?
That’s the flipside of the choice offered. We can abolish ICE in the name of bringing in Democrat voters wholesale. Or, we can maintain control over both our borders and the people we allow to become citizens and vote in America.
The border is kind of like the cap on a bottle of booze. On the one hand you can open that bottle up and there is no going back. Every drop will be consumed and the after effects will be predictable. But, it’s possible to take that bottle and place it on a shelf or in a cellar and preserve it for special and deserving circumstances. Cases in which it makes sense to open that bottle and in a responsible way engage the things that happen next.
So choose your own adventure. Make your choice well for there is no going back.
If you opt for the left’s preferred choice, chances are you may stand in line to vote with people that only came over to America to cast a ballot and then head straight back to whatever country they hail from. Talk about foreign collusion in elections…jeez!
If you opt for the more sensible choice, then there’s a chance America and the principles upon which the nation was founded won’t cease to be anymore.
Choose your own adventure wisely.
