Yesterday Mollie Tibbetts’ body was found in a field in Iowa covered with cornstalks.
A beautiful, vibrant young woman, doing all the things she should to improve and grow her life, working and going to college. Her young life snuffed out at twenty years old.

Yes, she was twenty years old, but she was someone’s child. One that had been raised to work, study and try to make a life for herself. Raised in a small town, where she should have been safe.

In the seventies and eighties, many people came from Mexico to find a better life. They were very willing to assimilate, work hard and live in crowded conditions to find the American Dream.
When Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act in 1986, the idea was to allow almost three million illegal immigrants amnesty. The other side of the coin was that the border would be better controlled and employers would face stiff penalties for hiring illegals.
Those who wished to stay on as Americans, stood in line, filled out their paperwork and were in the system, on their way to legality.
This law was supposed to be the VERY last amnesty. The end, the caboose, no more to ever cross the lips of anyone, ever.

Yes, that is the purpose of a wall, to deny them entry. They are not entitled to rights or residency in this country. There are pathways to obtain legality and legal alien status, but just walking into the country isn’t the way.
In order to keep our children safe from those who would do them harm, we have to pass laws to protect them from people who are not allowed a place here.
Congress must get off of its partisan POSTERIOR and work with each other to pass a group of laws with serious teeth to protect our future, the very lives of our children and other victims of all ages.
Yes, we have violent people who do belong here. They are enough to try and control. We do not need more perpetrators.
