If there was still any goodwill left from the Fans, or hope that football this year would have ‘turned the corner’, players resumed that protest of theirs even before the very first kickoff.
Because why wouldn’t the sport take second priority to their private causes?
Let’s recall the League’s official expectations of conduct concerning the anthem:
The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.

To see their behavior, you might think so.
In case they hadn’t found enough creative ways to flip the bird to America, one of the players (Michael Bennett) was casually walking onto the field in the MIDDLE of the Anthem.

Malcolm Jenkins and De’Vante Bausby raised their fists during the anthem. Michael Bennett walked out of the tunnel during the anthem and spent the anthem walking toward the bench. Chris Long placed his arm around Jenkins’ shoulder.
