This is one of those stories that the Democrats and the Media (D) don’t want you to talk about.
For one family in El Paso, Texas, they woke up on Thanksgiving morning to devastating news.
Joel Velasquez, 24, is facing charges for a hit and run that killed 26-year old Amanda ‘Mandy’ Ferguson Weyant, a sixth-grade teacher.
[Velasquez] appears to be in the country illegally and is now currently on an ICE detention hold, related to his immigration status, meaning he cannot bond out of jail.If he could, his bond is set at $125,000.
Police say he blew through a red light just before 2 a.m. Thursday morning.
That’s when he hit Amanda “Mandy” Ferguson Weyant, who was in the crosswalk, and took off. Police later found his vehicle abandoned on Cincinnati.
Valesquez didn’t even stop to check on her or get help. He just left her there to die.
It took him two days to turn himself in.
At the time of the crash, he was already out on bond relating to a 2017 assault charge.
“I saw where my daughter was hit and where her body was 50 feet from the point of contact. He didn’t even attempt to stop to render aid,” said Ferguson.
There was some relief, but also frustration.
“This man, because of his careless actions, has destroyed a complete family,” said Ferguson.
Another ‘poor, innocent illegal alien’ killed a beautiful, young American woman and left a family devastated.
But all he wanted was to come to the United States for a better life, right?
Well, not so much.
The family says they learned Velazquez has a criminal past and was in the country illegally.
“It just doesn’t add up, it doesn’t seem to be fair,” said Ferguson.

Lovely.
A family is in mourning, all the people whose lives she touched are devastated, and a sixth-grade class has lost their teacher because we’re too ‘compassionate’ towards people that cross our border illegally.
Mandy’s life is gone because someone with a criminal past — who shouldn’t have been here in the first place — drove recklessly and then callously left her to die on the side of the road.
Heartbreaking.

Terrible car accidents like this will always happen, but we could have prevented this one had Velasquez been deported after facing that assault charge in 2017.
The ‘compassionate’ left is constantly telling us to ‘Please, think of the immigrants!’, but there are consequences for not securing our borders, and this is one of them.
We cannot allow this kind of thing to continue.
We finally have a President that is willing to stand up to the left on this for the sake of those senselessly killed like Mandy Ferguson Weyant and her mourning family.
For that, we should be thankful.
