The Left’s Hypocritical Stance On ‘Hate’

Over a week ago, an individual named Robert Gregory Bowers carried out a mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, killing eleven people and wounding seven others.  After being shot and wounded by the police, he surrendered and was taken to the hospital.

Bowers had a history of anti-Semitic views, including posting anti-Semitic comments on social media (e.g. claiming the Jews to be the enemy of white people).

But what triggered Bowers to carry out this horrific act was the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), an immigrant advocacy group which the Tree of Life Synagogue was involved with, and its advocacy efforts for the recent caravan headed towards the U.S.-Mexico border.  He even posted a comment online, claiming that “HIAS likes to bring in invaders that kill our people.”

Bowers will answer for his crimes.  But liberals are trying to take advantage of the tragedy by blaming Trump for the shooting, given his stance against illegal immigrants.  Such blame is no doubt part of a strategy to help Democrats in the midterm elections.  Some people did not even want Trump to visit Pittsburgh in the aftermath of the shooting.

But contrary to popular belief, the Donald does not share, nor endorse such beliefs of Bowers, Jason Kessler (the white nationalist leader whose followers are, in addition to Antifa and other counter-demonstrators, responsible for the chaos in Charlottesville last year).

Meanwhile, in Pakistan, a Christian woman named Asia Bibi was convicted and sentenced to hang for the charge of making blasphemous remarks about Muhammad in 2010.  Such accusations were the result an argument breaking out after a Muslim saw her drinking water from a metal container that Muslims had been drinking from (note:  there is a caste system in Pakistan in which non-Muslims are considered to be unclean, and thus cannot use the same eating and drinking utensils that Muslims use).

Over a week ago, Bibi was acquitted of the charges by Pakistan’s Supreme Court, which resulted in protests by Muslims throughout Pakistan, who have called for her death, as well as the deaths of the judges who acquitted her.  The protesters have even gone so far as to block the roads to prevent her from leaving the country.  As a result, the Pakistani authorities have yet to release her from custody.  In the meantime, she has applied for asylum, while her lawyer has fled to Europe.  Time will tell on how matters play out in this case.

It is sad how leftists frequently accuse Trump of being prejudiced, yet turn a blind eye to the prejudices against non-Muslims in Muslim countries.
