These Two Blue States Now Backing Most Aggressive Pro-Abortion Laws Yet

Seeing their Activist hopes of favorable SCOTUS decisions threatened, look who suddenly cares about ‘States Rights’ again.

The Left is terrified that Roe V. Wade could be overturned.

And that’s a bad thing. Abortion has become — for their party — something of an article of faith. The more rabidly you support pro-abortion causes, the more well and truly ‘woke’ you are.

Some portion of the millions raked in by Planned Parenthood’s abortion centers finding their way back into Democrat political campaigns doesn’t hurt their ‘altruistic’ commitment to the cause any, either.

And the Right has been gaining strength in their push back to various abortion laws, and is poised to gain more now that the validity those undercover sale of baby-parts videos has been confirmed in an Appeals court. (No, Planned Parenthood, they are NOT ‘deceptively edited’ as you have claimed.)

Ohio, for instance, once again signed a ban on abortions after 20 weeks, but the ‘heartbeat bill’ was vetoed. His successor has gone on record saying he would sign the Heartbeat bill.

Blue States are not taking any chances.

New York and Vermont are moving forward their own aggressively Pro-Abortion laws. New York’s has already taken effect.

In Vermont Planned Parenthood is referred to as the ‘4th Branch of Government’:

Vermont Right to Life Committee leader Mary Hahn Beerworth blasted Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion politicians for the move. “Vermont … has legalized abortion through all nine months of pregnancy without a single restriction or regulation on the practice of abortion – not even that a doctor perform the procedure; no limit on how late into pregnancy; and … legalized physician-assisted suicide. And now it wants to enshrine death into the Vermont Constitution,” she said.
“We refer to Planned Parenthood here as the fourth branch of government,” added Beerworth, “and every year they simply deliver their wish list. They have so many clinics per capita here that they dominate the political scene.” Source: DailyWire

Read that again, slowly. Abortion clinics dominate the political scene. Think of all the possible priorities that can dominate public discourse. Family. Education. Jobs. Law and Order issues. Fiscal responsibility. Health Care, the Environment and so on.

Among the panoply of possible priorities, ABORTION dominates the political scene.

What is Vermont proposing?

“We need a Vermont where every Vermonter should feel free to make their personal decisions about their sexual and reproductive health care,” Johnson said. “They should be guaranteed unrestricted access to the doctors and the procedures that encompass the full range of that care, including abortion care.”
The bill proposes to recognize abortion as a fundamental right, and would protect in statute the right of reproductive health choice.
“The General Assembly intends this act to safeguard the right to abortion in Vermont by ensuring that right is not denied, restricted, or infringed by a governmental entity,” the bill says.
The bill would also make it illegal for any state or local law enforcement to prosecute licensed individuals for performing abortion procedures.
Vermont currently has no laws explicitly protecting abortion rights, and though there is some case law, abortion access in Vermont is legal due to the Roe v. Wade decision.

They go further than that. They actively deny the conferral of any human rights to the life in the womb.

The bill also emphasizes that unborn babies have zero rights in Vermont: “A fertilized egg, embryo, or fetus shall not have independent rights under Vermont law.” Source: DailyWire

New York just lit up the top of One World Trade Center in Pink to commemorate their change in abortion law taking effect. Governor Andrew Cuomo directed that landmarks in New York be lit in pink to ‘shine a bright light forward for the rest of the nation to follow.

[Insert ironic comment about pink and sex-selective abortions here]

One Catholic priest likened it to the needle with which the child in utero is jabbed and killed.

The new GMMC Bridge, named after Governor Mario M. Cuomo was also lit up pink.

He would be so proud. After all, it was Governor Mario Cuomo, a Catholic, that gave us the leftist hedging on abortion, the ‘I’m personally against it, but it shouldn’t be illegal stance so common on the left until the ‘Shout your Abortion’ movement took over and dropped the ‘rare’ from Safe, Legal, and Rare.

Under the Reproductive Health Act, non-doctors are now allowed to conduct abortions and the procedure could be done until the mother’s due date if the woman’s health is endangered or if the fetus is not viable. The previous law only allowed abortions after 24 weeks of pregnancy if a woman’s life was at risk. Source: Fox

The changes to the law allow people other than doctors to perform an abortion. Is a baby who manages to draw that first breath against all odds protected in this Brave New World Cuomo has announced?

It doesn’t look that way:

The bill would also prevent pregnant women whose babies are killed in violent attacks from seeing justice, and have the effect of “authorizing infanticide” by repealing the requirement that a second physician be on hand in the event that an attempted abortion past 20 weeks yields a live infant. What’s next for the Empire State?

Cuomo has said it himself:

“I want to pass a constitutional amendment that writes into the constitution a provision protecting a woman’s right to control her own reproductive health. We’ll pass it next year; we’ll put it onto the ballot; we’ll write it into the constitution,” said Cuomo, adding, “I have no doubt that Gorsuch is going to reverse Roe v. Wade. So what do we do? Protect ourselves. Pass a law that is a prophylactic to federal action.” Source: DailyWire

Oh, now that you don’t think the Courts can be relied on to move the goalposts for you, suddenly States Rights mean something? How convenient.
