If it weren’t for the Sanctuary City Policy, this confrontation would never have happened.
It was supposed to be a routine traffic stop. It ended in a fatality.
We are happy to report that the deputy — a third-generation Law Enforcement Officer — was not seriously injured.
A man caught on police body-camera footage attempting to kill a California sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop last week had been deported three times before, but local officials had shielded him from ICE in recent years.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said they had lodged four separate “detainer” requests asking local authorities to hold Javier Hernandez-Morales for pick up after he had been booked for local charges at California jails.
Each request was refused, leaving him out on the streets last Sunday, when he tried to kill Napa County Sheriff’s Deputy Riley Jarecki.

If anything paints a clear picture of who’s being protected and who’s being endangered when prominent Democrats call for open borders and the dissolution of ICE, this is an example of exactly what they’re calling for.
The end result is a three-time deportee with a long rap sheet driving around with 2 loaded guns he cannot lawfully own shooting at law enforcement during a routine traffic stop.
Hernandez, had he been deported and kept from returning through our porous borders (again and again after his multiple arrests) might still be alive today.
This time he’s been deported to Dante’s Easy-bake. Good luck coming back from that one.
“This incident may have been prevented if ICE had been notified about any of the multiple times Hernandez-Morales was released from local custody over the last few years,” immigration officials said. “This is an impactful, scary example of how public safety is affected by laws or policies limiting local law enforcement agencies’ abilities to cooperate with ICE.”
The statement added: “ICE is grateful the deputy involved in this shooting was not harmed during this attack. It’s unfortunate that our law enforcement partners and the community are subjected to dangerous consequences because of inflexible state laws that protect criminal aliens.”
