Chelsea Submits To Leftist Intimidation As Tucker Carlson Hits Back

A recent video shows Chelsea Clinton being verbally attacked by a New York University student. It seems that Chelsea had criticized anti-Semitic comments made by Rep. Ilhan Omar. Good for Little Miss Chelsea. The NYU student didn’t see it that way. In the video, she pokes an angry finger into a terrified Chelsea’s face and screams, “Forty-nine people died because of the rhetoric you put out there!” This young woman’s assault is objectionable on three levels.

First, it is unimaginable that anyone in their right mind would suggest that Little Miss Chelsea is responsible for the massacre of Muslims in New Zealand. Chelsea’s statements are hardly responsible for anything. But when aimed at the president, this accusation is symptomatic of the open season that has been declared against him by the Left and its supportive mainstream media. Trump’s rhetoric, they allege, is responsible for a mass slaughter occurring halfway across the globe. When people try to penetrate our borders illegally, Trump is responsible. If there is a breakout of hemorrhoids in Oskaloosa, Iowa, it must be Trump’s fault. The credibility of Democrats is seriously undermined when they make such patently irresponsible accusations.

Second, I am revolted by the arrogance of the NYU student and her contemporaries. This snot-nosed kid felt she was entitled to deliver a lecture about the nature of political reality, as though she has any conception of what causes horrific events like the one in New Zealand. This obnoxious behavior by college students used to result in suspension or expulsion. The know-it-all attitude of today’s college-age youngsters has been enabled by their leftist professors. The kids are encouraged to believe that they have a right not to be offended by contrary opinions, especially conservative ones. When she attacks Little Miss Chelsea, this narcissistic student is expressing the values she learned at NYU. She is confident that she has attained the moral high ground because her professors told her so.

Third, Little Miss Chelsea’s feeble apology is precisely what the leftist thought police are aiming for. It is politically incorrect to say anything negative about Muslims. “We need to be careful when criticizing Omar,” said Rep. Rashida Tlaib, “that it doesn’t feed into Islamophobia.” According to Tlaib, Omar’s critics should apologize. Rather than defend herself against this nonsense, Clinton surrendered. “I’m sorry,” she said. “I’m sorry you feel that way.” It was immediately picked up by another angry student who could be heard on the video saying, “What does ‘I’m sorry you feel that way’ mean?” Good question. Does it mean you don’t stand behind what you said? Or does it mean you lack the guts to confront your accuser?

Rep. Omar is guilty of making anti-Semitic statements and Chelsea was correct to say something about it. Why did she apologize? It is sad to watch public figures as they apologize for their political views. The Left has succeeded in intimidating many conservatives who fear professional and social banishment. We see this at the Oscars when actors conform to the leftist views of their more powerful colleagues. If they don’t, the fear is that they will never work again in Hollywood. “You can say whatever you want like you could say whatever you want 20 years ago,” observed comedian Adam Carolla on Tucker Carlson’s Fox show, “but you won’t have a job on Monday.

This ideological bullying is a deliberate strategy of the Left but, as with all bullies, it doesn’t work when you hit back. “At a certain point you cannot let the Left intimidate you,” said conservative commentator Dennis Prager. “And when you don’t they go crazy because they are so used to being able to intimidate.” A case in point is Tucker Carlson, accused by leftist organ Media Matters of making statements many years ago that allegedly were racist, homophobic, and misogynistic. Instead of apologizing, which would have been Step One in an effort to silence him altogether, Carlson fought back. We will never bow to the mob, ever,” he said, “no matter what.

Carlson’s refusal to apologize is a lesson for us all. “You’ll lose everything if you let the Left run all over you,” wrote Matt Vespa in Townhall. “That’s what would happen if Tucker had caved and apologized.” Unfortunately, Little Miss Chelsea has yet to learn from Carlson’s example.
