God’s epic call has come many different ways to many different people.
If you’ve ever had that ‘I was made for something bigger than this’ feeling… we’ve got good news for you. God could be setting you up for a wild ride.
If you let Him.
Doug and Rich walk us through some of the wild ways God got his people’s attention and sent them off to the world-changing destinies he had planned for them.
Some actually heard God’s audible voice or had some other kind of a vision or dream. But usually, he got their attention some other, simpler way.
Rich throws in a couple of wild examples of people Elijah tapped for the service of the Almighty. If you think they were both called to be preachers, you’d be way off.
Just because He’s called you doesn’t mean you’ll get called to preach in the jungles of Borneo, necessarily.
You might be getting called into something that doesn’t look ‘spiritual’ at all. Maybe you need to build custom bikes or start a business that might really change lives, or excel in athletics. Maybe your focus is to be an exceptional mom or dad to a solid family of real world changers, like Samuel and Susanna Wesley. Maybe you need to run for local office and help fix a broken school system.
The first two guys the Bible mentions being filled with the Holy Spirit were craftsmen and artists! (See Exodus 31)
You never know what it might look like. You might get called to do something wild in your free time finding a very ordinary need and meeting it in an inspired way, mentoring people through martial arts or music training.
Maybe you’re on deck to write the next Great American Novel, movie, or ….?
Or maybe you’re like Tim Story, who’s hanging with Hollywood types and bringing Jesus to people who don’t see all that much of the Christian worldview.
What really matters is that you be ready to go all-in when called. There’s nothing more pathetic than someone lowered into the ground at the end of their life with a head full of grey hair, and a coffin full of untapped potential. Don’t be that sob story.
Stop putting off whatever it is God has called you to do. But be warned… for you to hit whatever potential he’s calling you to soar to, you’ll have to drop some of the things that have been holding you back.
Fears, habits, wrong thinking — whatever it is that’s been dragging you back into the same old rut.
But it’s ok… all those things you have to ‘give up’ were killing you in the first place. You won’t miss them when they’re gone.
Get after God and lay hold of the call.
We can’t promise it will be easy, we can only promise you will NOT regret it.

Rules For Radical Christians is not a survival devotional designed to help the young Christian adult limp through life. Rather, it is a road-tested, dominion blueprint that will equip the young adult with leadership skills and sufficient motivation to rise to a place of influence in an overtly non-Christian culture. Rules For Radical Christians gives the reader the keys to become strategically equipped to move into an anti-theistic environment and effectively influence it for the glory of God.
