WATCH: Occasional-Cortex Tries To School Wells Fargo CEO – Watch Him BBQ Her

Well, THAT certainly didn’t go as planned.

Let’s just back up for a second…

The House Financial Services Committee of the 116th Congress is now chaired by Rep. Maxine Waters(D-CA). No, really — the woman with the illustrious distinction of being named the Most Corrupt Member of Congress, not once, not twice, but 4 times, is the chair of the Financial Services Committee.

If that’s not enough of a joke, it seems Rep. Alexandria Ocasio ‘Dark Money’ Cortez(D-NY) is also on the committee.

And even though she, like, went to Boston University, or whatever, and, like, has her Bachelor’s Degree — she double-majored in Economics and International Relations — she can’t seem to get either one straight.

But she, like, totally brags about her Economics degree because it’s like, suuuuper important that people know just how knowledgeable she is on the, like, big issues, or whatever.

Wondering: How many other House Democrats have a degree in Economics like I do?

The erudite scholar attempted to grill Wells Fargo CEO Timothy Sloan on Tuesday at a hearing titled, ‘Holding Megabanks Accountable: An Examination of Wells Fargo’s Pattern of Consumer Abuses.’ 

Occasional-Cortex decided it was a great time to, like, you know, strut her stuff, or whatever, and like, totally hold the Big Banks accountable, for like, crimes against humanity, and like, even worse — the environment.

She began saying that she wanted to question whether it was true that Wells Fargo doesn’t put ‘profits ahead of people’ and to address the ‘human rights abuses’ as well as the ‘environmental disasters’ that are financed by the bank.

Is she implying that Wells Fargo lends money to particular companies with the intention of perpetrating human rights abuses and environmental disasters?

Sloan wipes the floor with Occasional-Cortex.

AOC: Why was the bank involved in the caging of children and financing the caging of children to begin with?

SLOAN: I don’t know how to answer that question because we weren’t.

AOC: So you were financing, involved in debt financing in CoreCivic and GEO group, correct?

SLOAN: For a period of time, we were involved in financing one of the firms, we are not anymore. I’m not familiar with the specific assertion you are making, we were not involved in that.

And THEN it went really downhill…

Not only does Rep. Ocasio-Cortez believe that lending institutions are complicit with what borrowers use the money for, she believes that banks should be held accountable for it.

Let’s just follow AOC’s logic for a second. (This might be difficult if you have a moderate IQ or above and don’t regularly use illicit drugs, but — bear with me.) Recently, a former FEC commissioner said that it appears that there is enough evidence to conduct a criminal investigation into AOC’s campaign financing. It appears that AOC’s Chief of Staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, was funneling of money from PACs to private companies while he was her campaign chair. If she and/or Chakrabarti were to be found guilty, then, by her convoluted logic, the donors would be held criminally responsible.

Maybe Wells Fargo funded the private companies that built holding facilities for the influx of people illegally crossing the southern border and the ‘cages’ for children — but the real travesty is that they provided funding for the fossil fuel industry. That is a cardinal sin according to the Church of the Envirofacists.

‘Cause ‘Green New Deal’, yo.

AOC: Should Wells Fargo be held responsible for the damages incurred by Climate Change due to the financing of fossil fuels and these projects?

SLOAN: I don’t know how’d you calculate that, Congresswoman.

SLOAN: I’m not aware of the leaks associated with the Dakota Access pipeline that you’re describing.

Poor Rep. Ocasio-Cortez wasn’t getting the soundbite that she wanted, so she had to bring out the big guns — ask about a hypothetical.

AOC: So, hypothetically, if there was a leak from the Dakota Access pipeline, why shouldn’t Wells Fargo pay for the clean up of it since it paid for the construction of the pipeline itself?

SLOAN: Because we don’t operate the pipeline, we provide financing to the company that’s operating the pipeline.

Watching AOC speak in the House is like watching Legally Blonde without any of the intelligent parts.

My father used to always say, ‘Everyone has a right to be stupid, but some people abuse the privilege.’ 

That’s rather fitting in AOC’s case, I think.
