Conservative Speaker On Campus Attacked With Noxious Substance During Speech

His ‘controversial’ speech was called “Men are Not Women.

If leftists on campus keep crying about safe spaces, why are they the ones arrested for assaulting people who disagree with them?

This is the crucial difference between right and left in our attitude to free speech.

Each of us thinks the other side’s ideas are morally bankrupt. But we have very different ways of dealing with that problem.

Conservatives believe that Truth is robust, and we hold it to be — to borrow a phrase — self-evident. We expect all ideas on the table to be discussed in a free-for-all cage match. Errors, biases and misconceptions become revealed. In the end, the last idea standing wins.

Leftists think the truth is much more fragile. It needs to be sheltered from contact with error and deception. It needs to be escorted by bodyguards and censors.

Is it any wonder, then, when conservative speakers come to town, the snowflakes who have bought into the left’s idea of a fragile truth get violently offended and seek to silence the speaker?

That’s what happened when the Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles spoke to on campus about a very ‘taboo’ topic.

According to a statement released on UMKC’s Twitter, “The protest turned disruptive and after several warnings, the disruption persisted.”

The arrested protester was tackled and tased by police. Others were maced, according to those in attendance.

After the incident, Knowles tweeted that the protester tried to throw bleach on him. After speaking with police, Knowles tweeted that it was instead an odorous substance designed to smell like bleach.

According to a statement from Chancellor Mauli Agrawal released Monday morning, tests revealed the substance was “lavender oil and some other non-toxic household liquids.”

The individual, who has now been identified as a UMKC student, was arrested and charged with assault and other violations.

Protestors outside the event were seen holding signs reading “Trans rights are human rights,” and “Knowles’ ideology kills trans women.”

Headlines trying to ‘spin’ it got called out:

Is this anti-free speech attitude fostered by the University Professors themselves?

It’s another reason the President’s Executive Order about free speech on campus may be just what we need to get back on track.
