Doug's Columns

Sin And Forgiveness

If you want a faith that can truly persevere, you need to know how to deal with setbacks, that includes ‘falling forward’, or learning the right attitude to your own personal failings.

It doesn’t matter what kind of a super-saint you think God has called you to be. If you’re shlepping this pebble, you will experience setbacks and failures. It’s the response to those failures that really matters.

It’s well and good to have rah-rah sermons unleashing the lion that’s ready to charge into Hell with a water pistol. But that’s only half of the story.

When you’re swinging for the fences, or even when you’re making ordinary daily choices in life, there is always, always an opportunity to get tripped up. It might be something big, or something relatively small. But if we’re only taught how to be successful, these nicks and dents in our armor will really take their toll. We need the ‘rest of the story’.

What’s a righteous man do when he falls on his face? He gets up and continues forward… and there IS a right way to do it.

One of the big pieces that often gets overlooked is the need to forgive yourself for the failures. Some failures were going to come anyway, there’s no point beating yourself up over them on top of that.

We dive into that in this episode. Dig in and enjoy!

Rules For Radical Christians is not a survival devotional designed to help the young Christian adult limp through life. Rather, it is a road-tested, dominion blueprint that will equip the young adult with leadership skills and sufficient motivation to rise to a place of influence in an overtly non-Christian culture. Rules For Radical Christians gives the reader the keys to become strategically equipped to move into an anti-theistic environment and effectively influence it for the glory of God.
