2006 JOE BIDEN: ‘We Need A BORDER WALL’

Democrats have been big fans of open borders for a very long time. Even way back then, Joe knew this message would be upsetting to some Democrats.

This was back when most Democrats still cared (or at least pretended to) about what was being carried over the border illegally.

And back then, some Democrats actually cared about the impact that a flood of illegal immigrants would have on the labor market.

The video quality (it was taken in 2006) leaves a lot to be desired, but you can hear it well enough, and more or less make out what’s going on.

Biden told a South Carolina rotary club that he voted for a border fence despite other Democrats opposing the measure.

“Folks, I voted for a fence, I voted, and unlike most Democrats — and some of you won’t like it — I voted for 700 miles of fence,” he said, in the video unearthed by CNN.

“But, let me tell you, we can build a fence 40 stories high — unless you change the dynamic in Mexico and — and you will not like this, and — punish American employers who knowingly violate the law when, in fact, they hire illegals. Unless you do those two things, all the rest is window dressing,” he added.

Of course, his administration had the sort of majority that could cram unwanted legislation down the throats of America without any chance of opposition… and yet the border situation got worse, not better under his watch.

In fact, it’s a combination of his party’s policy and alarmism that has incentivized people endangering young children (sometimes even someone else’s kid rented from a coyote) to abuse the asylum process, and overwhelm our border agents with bogus claims that trigger catch-and-release obligations enforced by the courts without regard to public safety.

The Democrats have explicitly refused to address this problem because they are more interested in exploiting it than solving it.

And now that the political winds have shifted, what are pretender Joe’s NEWEST ‘Principles’?

Joe Biden said Wednesday that President Donald Trump is sowing fear at the U.S. border with Mexico, not delivering solutions, after another month when about 100,000 immigrants were arrested trying to enter the country illegally.

“The idea that we are just trying to scare the living devil out of the American public — ‘My God, hordes are coming,’ the way he characterizes it — is just simply wrong,” Biden told reporters near downtown Los Angeles.

The Democratic candidate for president and former vice president said he soon will release a proposal to address the nation’s long-running border problems.

Something tells us ‘2006 Joe’ would hardly recognize ‘2019 Joe’. And it’ not (just) because he’s gotten older and creepier, either.
