WATCH: Huntress Defends Hunting And Exhorts Hunters Not Be Their Own WORST Enemy

Written by Wes Walker on May 1, 2019

Tired of self-righteous keyboard warriors in their underwear whipping up the social media outrage machine against hunting, one huntress is fighting back.

Olivia Opre has noticed that hunters are falling into a social media trap that’s making it easier for the snowflakes to demonize us… so she’s proposing a solution.

Here she is describing the problem…

From the @shepherdsofwildlife — Social media has brought major change to the human world. Much of it good, but also much of it bad. Harassment, slander, defamation, lies, #fakenews are utilized by many to destroy others with opposing views or weaponized to promote an organization’s financial “cause.” @olivianalosopre continues her multipart series on why we hunt and makes suggestions on how hunter-conservationist and animal lovers can move forward in the best interest of wildlife and habitat conservation. Here’s part of her pushback…

Of course, that’s only going to be a small part of the big picture. Tom and Olivia Opre are hunters that run a site that explains their mission of conservation in their own words:

The Shepherds of Wildlife Society™ has been created specifically to educate children and young adults about the importance of wildlife and wildlife conservation. To engage and motivate them, studies show we need great quality content and messaging. With this in mind, our goal is to produce world-class educational materials utilizing dynamic video and still photography, showcasing the real world of wildlife around us.

Scientists, naturalists, wildlife biologists, government officials, and wildlife photographers all tell the story of wildlife on a species-by-species basis and emphasize our responsibility to be good stewards of wildlife and their habitat so wildlife will not be lost to us, our children, or our children’s children.

Unless the value of wildlife and habitat within our culture is increased now and in the future, wild animals face a future where they will only exist in parks and zoos. What few animals survive will be forever habitualized by humans and no longer exist in the wild.

So how can we stop one of the greatest travesties in human history? Education. As creators of powerful public-influencing visual media, we’re in a unique position to produce the kind of educational materials that will have INFLUENCE AND IMPACT.

We would like to personally thank you for your interest in and support of our efforts to educate children and the many others in the broader public who no longer interface with wild places or Mother Nature about the importance of wildlife and conservation.

Wild animals of all kinds and their habitat are facing unprecedented threats due to humanity’s massive population explosion and urbanization. The planet’s human population is now 7.4 billion people. In the United States, 81.5% of all children live in cities. Experts predict numbers like these will double in the next 50 years.

There’s no time to waste. Please join us in doing whatever we can to motivate and educate people to become good stewards of the environment in which we can all survive and thrive, Shepherds of Wildlife!

If hunters are going to win the PR battle with people who don’t understand that life at all, a little strategic thought about the kinds of photos we stage could take us a long way down that right road.

Like not grinning like an idiot in your photo.

Get Doug Giles’ book, Rise, Kill and Eat: A Theology of Hunting from Genesis to Revelation today!

If a person looked to Scripture and paid particular attention to the passages within the Bible that address the topic of hunting, then they’d walk away thinking not only is hunting animals tolerated but it is endorsed by God. And that’s exactly what this little book is about: proving that God, from Genesis to Revelation, is extremely cool with hunters and hunting. I’ll go out on a biblical limb and claim right off the bat that you cannot show me, through the balance of the Bible, that the God of the Scripture is against the responsible killing and the grilling of the animals He created. ~Doug Giles
In his killer new book RISE, KILL & EAT: A Theology of Hunting From Genesis to Revelation Doug carries on with his courageous war against the lunatic fringe who dare recommend Bambi solutions to the annual production of edible wildlife. –Ted Nugent
