The Mexican government seized 25 TONS of fentanyl from China. Guess where it was headed?
If you want a window into the priorities of Democrats, look at what they talk about, and what they avoid talking about. Look at the political actions they prioritize and the ones the neglect.
That makes all the difference.
Here we have an overlap of several different issues that the Democrats have been on the wrong side of… consistently.
First, we see the opiod trade itself. If the 2017 American fatalities due to drug overdose were slotted into the overall 2016 numbers, they would have ranked as the 8th leading cause of death in America, between Diabetes (7) and Influenza/Pneumonia (9).
In fact, the total dead through overdose in 2018 would be nearly HALF as much as the total deaths due to all accidents (2016) combined — and that includes car crashes!
Trump raised this as an important issue and said we needed to put a stop to something that was ending so many American lives… when nobody else was talking about it.
And for the first time in decades, we’re seeing a drop in overdose deaths. But we’re not out of the woods yet.
Deaths due to fentanyl had been skyrocketing in recent years.
You’d think that would be a non-partisan reason to cooperate. But no, it isn’t. The Democrats have been playing partisan games, in particular, at the border. They don’t mind people flooding over that border at all.
They pretend to care about drug screening at legal points of entry — as though that was the only way things get smuggled into the country.

Forget the fact that no matter WHAT comes over our border — drugs, guns, people, trafficked sex slaves — the criminal cartels get a payday. Which means that Democrat policies that keep the flow of people coming across the border are literally enriching exactly the kind of people that work under kingpins like El Chapo.
And what do the cartels do with all that extra money?
The same thing any successful LEGITIMATE business would do — reinvest it into expanding their operations. Unfortunately for us, that means things like this:
The Mexican government announced the major fentanyl seizure of initially reported by local media outlets to be approximately 25.75 tons (23,368 kilograms or 51,517 pounds) of powdered fentanyl that originated in Shanghai China and was headed to Culiacán, Sinaloa, the home base for the Sinaloa Cartel. According to a government spokesperson, the seizure was a result of a joint operation led by the Mexican naval elements of the 10th naval zone and Lázaro Cárdenas customs enforcement personnel as reported by local media. Michoacán is located in western Mexico and has a stretch of coastline along the Pacific Ocean.
According to government authorities, investigators found the cargo inside a container of a Danish flagged vessel with a cargo manifest indicating that the contents consisted of Calcium Chloride. Authorities took a random sampling of the powdered substance to a specialized laboratory of Mexican Customs and the substance later tested positive for fentanyl. Officials seized a total of 931 sacks of the substance for a total weight of 23,368 kilograms. Government officials indicated that the weight of the suspected fentanyl is still being determined since the investigation is ongoing and later reports indicated that an official weight would be reported at a later date.
…Breitbart Texas reported on significant fentanyl seizures related to the Sinaloa Cartel. In April, Mexican federal investigators discovered an active lab in Culiacán. Also in April, the Mexican Army and state police seized 12,260 pills a checkpoint in Sonora. Last week, Breitbart Texas reported on the arrest of two fentanyl cooks working for the Sinaloa Cartel. In late July, an illegal immigrant from Mexico and a former municipal police officer were indicted in Amarillo, Texas, after he was arrested for transporting approximately 72 pounds of the opioid.

So, the Mexican government, which to the Democrat’s dismay, is cooperating with Trump in securing our border from criminal exploitation has ALSO helped intercept a massive shipment of Chinese-sourced fentanyl bound for American cities and towns.
But the Democrats are working so hard at undermining Trump as President, they are making it difficult for him to rattle China’s chains, and now the 2020 Democrats are trying to hit Trump over the short-term pain his tariffs are causing to people like the US farmers who have lost access to markets over Trump’s showdown with China.
