CLASH POLL: Two Views On ‘Cancel Culture’ In The Wake Of #BlackfaceTrudeau — Which One Do YOU Agree With?

The Right has room for serious difference of opinion, and the correct response to ‘Cancel Culture’ is one place where these differences show up…

How should we react when the Left violates the very rules and principles they use to destroy the reputations and even livelihoods of those they disagree with?

Unlike the Left, the right is NOT a monolithic hive-mind. Our instinct isn’t to ‘destroy’ anyone who makes that ‘politically incorrect’ miss-step, who makes that off-color joke.

As a group, we are more committed to FREE speech than regulated speech that won’t hurt anyone’s feelings, because we know that sometimes the most important things for an individual or culture to hear are the ones that they least WANT to hear.

And under ordinary circumstances, that would be the beginning and the end of it.

But the Left has weaponized the outrage mob to absolutely destroy anyone who makes the wrong statement … unless there is a (D) after their name. In which case, they get a pass.

And that’s the problem we’re facing.

Anyone who isn’t Left of Lenin is vulnerable to being destroyed for one ‘wrong’ word. Even perfectly innocuous things can lead to the politics of personal destruction.

The CEO at Mozilla that was ‘outed’ for donating money to the ‘wrong’ political cause? He lost his job. James Damore, the Google engineer who didn’t buy into the official talking points about gender inequality, and wrote an internal memo challenging the dogma was fired for it.

Roseanne Barr made one insensitive ‘mean tweet’ directed at Valerie Jarret and she was not only pulled from an immensely successful show but all of the ORIGINAL shows from the 90s bearing her name were pulled and we were told that reruns would no longer be available.

Now that Google & Facebook are the internet’s information power-brokers, even MORE power is concentrated in fewer and fewer hands. And worse, we’ve got examples like Media Matters who have released a White Paper detailing exactly how they want to destroy the political right online AND in business.

When someone like Trudeau shows up wearing blackface, we come to a fork in the road. We agree on the problem, but not necessarily on what to do about it.

Option One, Take the High road, and remain true to the same principles we want EVERYONE to be held to:

Option Two, ‘New Rules’:

Borrow their own Saul Alinsky tactics and be as ruthless with holding THEM to the same consequences they want everyone else to sweat under.

(Fair warning, this one uses some ‘salty’ language.)

It’s a good contrast of the two arguments. Which option do YOU favor?

Take the high road? Or make the bastards pay?
