God Change Me!

Have you ever asked yourself whether getting thrown on the potter’s wheel and being molded into what we’re supposed to be is an ACTIVE or a PASSIVE process?

What about that *one* sin that dogs you more than the others, the one you’ll get around to dealing with ‘tomorrow’. Are you passively waiting for God to remove the urge to sin so you can thank Him for your victory over it?

If so, Skippy, we’ve got some bad news for you.

You’re in for a loooooong wait.

That’s not, I said, not the nature of the battle you’ve been called to, little Christian.

He’s given us His grace. He’s given us His Spirit — that same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead.

He’s given clear instruction to ‘go and sin no more’ — leaving little room for doubt what He meant by sin. If you find yourself asking “But, do you mean that thing that I–?”

Yes, that will be the one he meant.

His Commandment is clear. His Grace is available and more than enough.

So why aren’t we all on board and busy overcoming and transforming the world the way the Apostles did? Why is it we keep getting wrapped around the axle?

Why do we so easily find ourselves in the same boat the Apostles were when the Angels had to light a fire under their butts after Christ’s Ascension by saying?

And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

Why are you still standing there, staring? Exactly!

And if we (or people we care about) ARE stuck in neutral, ‘standing and staring’ what can we do about it?

You can start by cranking up this week’s show either on video…
