Dang! That’s gonna hurt! The Turkish B-ball player had some pretty harsh words for the Congresswoman from Minnesota.
Turkish NBA player, Enes Kanter, tweeted that Rep. Ilhan Omar’s decision to not vote for sanctions against Turkey after their military strike against the Kurds was kowtowing to the Erdogan regime and against American interests.
Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter tore into Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) on Tuesday night for not voting in favor of a bill to place economic sanctions on Turkey for its military campaign against Kurdish forces in northern Syria.
Kanter, who is Turkish and has long been a vocal critic of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, tweeted that it was an “absolute disappointment and shame” that Omar was the only Democrat to vote against the measure to put sanctions on Turkey.
Kanter’s criticism of the Erdogan regime has cost him and his family quite a bit and continues to affect his life in very serious ways.
That’s because when there really is a dictator in power, you just can’t say negative things about said dictator without actual repercussions, despite what the #NotMyPresident “Resist” crowd claim. And we’re not talking about mean tweets, either. Kanter has had his passport revoked and his father has been arrested. And of course, the death threats.
In 2017, Kanter had his passport revoked in Romania and claimed later in the year that his father had been arrested by Turkish authorities.
In January, Kanter didn’t travel with the New York Knicks — his team at the time — to London due to death threats.

That’s quite the claim that Kanter is making — saying that she seems like she’s on Erdogan’s payroll.
Except… that he might be closer than he thinks.
The Daily Caller reported yesterday that an Erdogan-backing Turkish advocacy group donated $1,500 to Rep. Omar’s campaign.
Remember, Erdogan’s regime is an Islamist one that he was “steeped in Muslim Brotherhood ideology” and props up terror organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah.
The co-chairman of a Turkish-American advocacy group with close ties to Ankara contributed $1,500 last month to the campaign for Rep. Ilhan Omar, who is under fire this week over votes she cast supporting Turkish government positions, campaign finance records show.
Omar and the activist, Halil Mutlu, were also photographed together at an event for the Turkish American Steering Committee (TASC), a U.S.-based nonprofit that has for years waged public relations campaigns in support of Turkish government policies and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Mutlu, who Turkish media outlets have reported is Erdogan’s cousin, is co-chairman of TASC, according to the group’s website.
If that’s not bad enough, some advocates for the vote to acknowledge the Armenian genocide claim that her statement following that vote “mirrors propaganda pushed by the Turkish government.”
In a statement after the vote, Omar asserted that the genocide resolution was being used as a “cudgel in a political fight” against Turkey, which is a NATO ally of the U.S. She also said that she was withholding judgment on the genocide question until an “academic consensus” had been formed.
Advocates for the Armenian genocide resolution said that Omar’s statement mirrors propaganda pushed by the Turkish government.
