The phrase ‘Double standards’ doesn’t even BEGIN to explain this. If there were an ‘R’ after this name they would have already torn him to shreds over this.
In their collective imaginations, the ‘legacy’ media ‘speaks truth to power’. In reality, they are where Democracy goes to die in darkness.
The newsworthiness of any particular story — as we see from any of their 9 am conference calls with Zucker at CNN — is first and foremost a function of what party it hurts or helps.
It’s like the broke guy in the fancy restaurant who reads the menu from right to left before he makes his decision. In this case, however, it isn’t the price that catches his notice, but the placement of an ‘R’ or a ‘D’ after the candidate’s name.
The same media watchdogs in the press who can find no reason to object about any of Hunter Biden’s business connections abroad and how prominent Hunter’s name is when those same connections sought an audience with Obama administration officials have nothing to say about a 2020 candidate’s bastard grandchild (to use the accurate terminology).
You’d think that getting a side chick knocked up while knocking boots with your brother’s widow… and bringing yet another chick (your new wife) along to hear the paternity results would be the sort of drama that would make for an interesting news report. Especially since Hunter’s own life has already had more drama than Lindsay Lohan.
But no…
…nothing.
The other usual suspects have little-to-no interest in ANY of the drama and scandal surrounding Hunter Biden. And those who did made sure to tie it to a corresponding Republican scandal from a decade ago.
(They are vigilant to protect the Democratic frontrunner from taking any collateral damage from such stories.)
Let’s compare that against another out-of-wedlock grandchild born to another prominent political candidate, with significantly LESS drama. Only, this one with an ‘R’ after her name.
Remember the Palin family?
That was a completely different story.
CNN, who had nothing to say about the newest Biden grandkid:

NYT, whose editorial staff have already decided what negative slant to portray every Trump story between now and 2020 handled it differently:
The New York Times didn’t cover Wednesday’s news that Hunter Biden allegedly fathered another child. It did, however, tie in Bristol Palin’s teenage pregnancy as a new Republican “tumult” in 2008.
“Palin’s Teen Daughter Is Pregnant; New G.O.P. Tumult,” a 2008 NYT article is headlined. The publication also suggested that the teenage pregnancy raised “questions on vetting,” although McCain noted that he already knew of the pregnancy before choosing Sarah Palin as his running mate. — DailyCaller
The alphabet networks were no better.
This is nothing new. We could contrast the coverage of the time Scalise was nearly assassinated against another anti-Palin hit piece, the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords.
Or the way they suppressed the knowledge of John Edwards sleeping with a staffer while his wife was dying of cancer, but destroyed Republican Herman Cain’s candidacy on the RUMOR of sexual indiscretions.
You can’t have the Republicans nominating a successful black man to be President, that would wreck everything! Take him down! And they did.
The Media(D) are not ‘watchdogs’ they are partisan attack dogs. A very different breed indeed.
