Meet Ilhan Omar’s GOP Rival … The Iraqi Refugee Says Omar ‘Must Be Stopped’ (Video)

One Muslim refugee who divides the country and one Muslim refugee that wants to unite it. This should be an interesting race.

Dalia al-Aqid came to the United States as a refugee fleeing Saddam Hussein’s regime in 1988. On Thursday al-Aqid, a former White House correspondent who is also a Trump-supporter, announced that she was going to run against Rep. Ilhan Omar(D-MN) to represent Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District.

Al-Aqid points out in her video that both women have similar stories. They both came as children to the United States as refugees fleeing a war-torn country, they’re both women and Muslim, but despite those similarities, they have very different perspectives. She said that although Rep. Omar claims to be a spokeswoman for Muslims in America, “she doesn’t speak for me.”

She also stated that she is tired of the division that the scandal-plagued Rep. Omar has wrought in her few short years in office. Her video highlights the killing of terrorist Qasem Soleimani and Rep. Omar’s condemnation of the President’s decision as proof of siding with America’s enemies.

Al-Aqid praised the Trump administration’s policy in the Middle East, especially the decision to kill Soleimani, calling him a “vicious terrorist thug.” She said that she was “disgusted” by the way that Democrats have “sided with a terrorist” and says, “In times like this our country needs to rally together, not push each other apart.”

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Wire, al-Aqid said that she decided to run for Congress because Omar was “doing irreparable harm to both Minnesota and the U.S.—she must be stopped. Her consistent anti-Semitism and hateful rhetoric are toxic and serve only to gain attention for herself and position herself as a celebrity—she’s not fighting for us; she is fighting for herself, even if that means fighting against us.”

Al-Aqid didn’t take any cheap shots against Omar personally, even though they’re right there in the open and some of her sordid personal history is currently being investigated by the FBI. She focused on Omar’s political positions, her public anti-Semitic statements, what she hasn’t done for Minnesota or America as a whole, and how she seems to be on the wrong side of just about every issue.

It looks as though the race for Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District will be very interesting indeed.
