Have you ever heard of Tara Reade? If you only get your news from the liberal media complex, especially CNN, you probably haven’t. Tara Reade was a staff assistant to Joe Biden while he worked in the Senate. She alleges, that in 1993, Biden sexually assaulted her.
Reade’s claim isn’t exactly new. In an April 3, 2019 article Reade alleged Biden touched her several times making her feel uncomfortable. Reade said her responsibilities in the senator’s office were reduced after she refused to serve drinks at an event — what she called a desire of Biden’s because he liked her legs. Reade said she felt pushed out and left in August 1993 after some nine months.
In 2019, Reade was one among many women who found Biden’s touching uncomfortable and inappropriate.
In March of 2020, Reade revealed more. She claimed it was more than just touching. She’s claiming Biden “shoved her up against a wall and penetrated her with his fingers.” The natural question, I think, is why did she wait nearly a year to give this part of the story. In response to that, Reade said she waited to share her account due to the criticism and threats she received after speaking out in 2019.
These are serious and disturbing accusations. It also must be noted that Biden and his campaign vehemently deny Reade’s charges. As I and many others argued during the Kavanaugh debacle, Biden ought to have the presumption of innocence, a chance to defend himself and due process.
I find it fascinating the reaction of some progressives fascinating. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) addressed the issue against presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden by a former Senate staffer, saying it was “legitimate to talk about.”
“It is highly significant that Reade told a friend about the incident contemporaneously–and relayed to others that something traumatic had transpired with Biden. That kind of indirect witness testimony has been widely cited as evidence to support other women’s accounts of abuse at the hands of powerful men” opined Joshua Holland of AlterNet.
The New York Times, CNN and other liberal media outlets ran multiple stories, many of them fabricated, during the Kavanaugh hearing. Tara Reade’s story has been around quite a while, but CNN has not mentioned it.
Could it be the Democrats won’t unite around Joe? The Democrat media enablers are doing what they can to help Biden.
Jonathan S. Tobin of National Review writes of an interview Dean Baquet, of the New York Times, did with Ben Smith reporting, “Baquet appeared to acknowledge that he edited out a reference to other accusations against Biden at the behest of the Biden campaign, lending weight to the claim that the Times’ decision was heavily influenced by its political lean.”
Reade has filed a police report about the incident.
So, what does all this mean?
First, the media is biased and does not care to honestly report anything. This isn’t news. How the media treats Tara Reade is far different than how it treated Christine Blasey-Ford. Emily Jashinsky writes, “Reade’s story went untouched by The New York Times, the Washington Post, and most of the legacy media for 19 days. The Post reported Ford’s allegation shortly after she agreed to go on the record, which took months and came after other outlets were closing in on the story.”
Second, there is not a lie, smear or vile act that the left won’t utilize to try to defeat President Trump in November. They will ignore serious accusations to run Biden against Trump.
I am waiting to hear from Senator Kamal Harris (D-NY) who at the time of the Kavanaugh confirmation exclaimed of Blasey-Ford, “She’s doing it, I believe, because she knows that this is an important matter. It’s a serious matter. And she has the courage to come forward. She has nothing to gain. What does she have to gain?”
Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) proclaimed, “We have to create an environment where women can come forward and be heard and be listened to.” I wonder if that environment will matter as much in 2020 as it did in 2018?
Again, we don’t know if Biden sexually assaulted Reade or not. What we do know is that the media and the Democrats are liars and hypocrites. If a Republican is charged, there is no limit to the coverage and no doubt the woman has to be believed. If the charge is against a Democrat, it’s okay. Biden is, after all, one of the “good guys” according to the Democrats and the media.
We are in the middle of a pandemic and Biden is virtually in hiding. However, when the pandemic is over and the campaign begins again, the name Tara Reade ought not be forgotten.
