I know the title might sound a bit odd, but you’ll understand. This is going to be more of a rant than an actual article/column. Given the circumstances, it seems appropriate.
Don’t get me wrong, though. In no way do I regard the actual COViD 19 virus to be a hoax. It’s as real as can be, and it’s decidedly deadly. According to the web site www.worldometers.info, 210 countries and territories have recorded rates of infection, rates of recovery and corresponding deaths.
What’s become the real issue is the reaction to the shutdown the virus has caused. To the Left, this is a Socialist wet dream come true. For the rest of us, it’s become a glimpse of totalitarianism. Personally, I’m convinced that if Donald J. Trump wasn’t POTUS, this would just be another flu.
In spite of the Democrats’ best efforts, true Americans are ready to explode. There have been demonstrations in the state capitols of Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Florida, N. Carolina, Maryland, New Hampshire, Ohio, Indiana, Idaho, Texas, Colorado, and even the most far-Left enclaves of California and Washington state. Expect more the longer this goes on.
People are fed up and are willing to fight to take their freedom and livelihoods back. What’s happening is also a wonderful example of President Trump using the Constitutional power of the 10th Amendment.
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Notice that last phrase “…or to the people…” In spite of the governors of some of the aforementioned states wanting to go full throttle Socialist Regime, we the people won’t have it.
The worst examples of complete wannabee totalitarian moments have come from the governors of Michigan (Gretchen Whitmer), Kentucky (Andy Beshear) and Virginia (Ralph Northam). In Northam’s case, even before the virus hit, he was going after the 2nd Amendment. The subsequent shutdown just made him salivate for more.
By using the 10th Amendment to allow the individual states to handle the shutdown and eventual reopening process, by giving the states this ability, President Trump has executed a brilliant move. It’s like kicking over a rock and watching the disgusting vermin underneath scatter in the sunlight.
We’re seeing who the potential Junior Politburo members are. By sharp contrast is Kristi Noem, Governor of South Dakota. She encouraged the citizens of her state to practice the recommended guidelines while not instituting the draconian methods of other governors. While S. Dakota did have one “hot spot” at a meat processing plant, she dealt with it sensibly.
Americans want to do the right thing. We’re not children, uneducated or mentally defective. We understand what we’re dealing with, and we also understand when we’ve been lied to and conned. And the vast majority of us want to … no, need to … work.
We also know we’ll be needing to make some changes. We’ve seen who the real enemy is, and it was never the virus.

Continue to practice empiricism (i.e. pay very close attention to what you’re seeing and experiencing)…and REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER…because
