The Democrats’ Biden Problem

On Leap Day of this year, Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) decided Joe Biden (D-DE) ought to be the Democrats’ nominee for president. Biden had done nothing to that point to deserve it. Entering South Carolina, Biden had been defeated in Iowa, Nevada, and New Hampshire. His candidacy was deservedly on life-support.  Clyburn used all of his influence in the African American community to deliver Biden’s first primary victory ever. Elite Democrats weren’t done.  They did not want self-avowed Democrat-Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who was actually winning primaries to that point, so they coerced Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) to drop out and endorse Biden, whom they both had beaten three times in four tries. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) stayed in the race through Super Tuesday to siphon off votes from Sanders so Biden would have an easier time winning.

Here’s an ugly truth:  Joe Biden didn’t win the Democrat nomination. He was given it. Though I don’t agree with them, I can understand why the Sanders’ crowd is outraged. Now, however, things have become uglier for Biden and the Democrats. Biden is being accused of sexual assault by former aide Tara Reade.

Reade is blunt about what happened. She tweeted, “I am not an ‘imperfect victim’. I was lifelong Democratic supporter single mom that put myself through law school  and I was  raped by Joe Biden, my former boss, a Democrat. There are no excuses for institutionalized rape culture. Thank you.”

Biden, as others before him, is entitled to the presumption of innocence. His campaign vehemently denies Reade’s accusation, though Biden, personally, has not, nor has he been asked about it by a lap-dog press.

The evidence though, that at least the accusation ought to be examined, is mounting. It is important to recognize, however, that the mainstream media was much more engaged in reporting on Dr. Christine Blasey-Ford’s charge against Justice Brett Kavanaugh with much less evidence. Here’s what we know about Reade and Biden.

A video from 1993 has been unearthed which shows a woman who may be Reade’s mother calling in to the Larry King Live show on CNN to who talks of her daughter’s  “problems” suffered while working for a “prominent senator.” Reade has clearly identified the voice in the call as her mother, Jeanette Altimus. This video was so disturbing to the liberal elites, that it has been removed from the Google Play catalog.

Reade claims that she told her mother, a close friend, and her brother about both the harassment and, to varying degrees of detail, the assault at the time. Her brother, Collin Moulton, confirmed that he heard about the allegations from Reade at the time.

Reade’s former neighbor Lynda LaCasse, a Biden supporter, has told Business Insider that Reade told her about the alleged assault in detail in 1995 or 1996: “This happened, and I know it did because I remember talking about it.”

Lorraine Sanchez, who worked with Reade for a California state senator, said Reade told her in the  mid-1990s that “she had been sexually harassed by her former boss while she was in D.C., and as a result of her voicing her concerns to her supervisors, she was let go, fired.”

The evidence, at least for a thorough investigation, is mounting. What is the Democrat response?

Hillary Clinton, who said of Kavanaugh accuser Dr. Ford, “She basically said that; she thought it was her civic duty.  I found her willingness to say ‘I don’t remember that, but I remember this’ to be very convincing. And I—I felt a great swell of, you know, pride that she would be willing to put herself out there under these circumstances,” has heartily endorsed Biden, not seeming to “swell with pride” over Reade’s courage.

She said of Biden, “Joe Biden has been preparing for this moment his entire life,” Clinton said. “And for me, this is a moment that we need a leader, a president like Joe Biden.” It’s rank hypocrisy.

Clinton isn’t the only Democrat hypocrite. Former President Barack Obama endorsed Biden in a lengthy video. In it he lauds Biden’s character and resilience, touting him as the right kind of candidate to lead the country through a crisis like the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

So, Obama believes Biden has character? I’m guessing Tara Reade and the several other women who, on April 3, 2019, accused Biden of inappropriate touching might define character a bit differently.

What’s the bottom line? The Democrats and Biden have a problem. The Democrats gave the nomination to a person who didn’t win it and is burdened by the baggage of misconduct. The Tara Reade story is continuing to gain traction, despite the attempts to stop it by the media and the Democrats. The Democrat candidate who boasted that “character is on the ballot” must confront this issue. If the mainstream media is hesitant, the electorate must demand it.

As for Biden? He seems to have a lot of problems and may possibly have been guilty of sexual misconduct.

Maybe one of the reasons the Democrats and the media want the country to remain locked down to keep Biden away from public scrutiny? I don’t know. This I do know. I hope Tara Reade’s story is investigated and the truth emerges.
