The official narrative is that Christian men treat women like chattel, keeping them around more or less for breeding purposes only. Keep them popping out kids… at gunpoint, one might expect.
We’ve never met any Christian with even the vaguest similarity to that worldview, but nevertheless, that bias persisted.
That same crowd will bend over backward, looking for ways to defend another monotheistic religious group from even the most narrow criticism of specific practices that explicitly violate Western customs, laws, and values.
If you denounce Sharia law, for example, it’s because you’re a bigot. They could not even entertain the idea that it may be because you oppose the normalization of spousal abuse, the throwing of homosexuals off of tall buildings, the severing of a thief’s hand, or other such barbaric practices.
But here we have some ‘scholar’ on the television explaining why beating a wife is, in some twisted sort of a manner, showing her ‘honor’. MEMRI translated his words to English.

‘Allah honored wives by instating the punishment of beatings. Honored them with beatings? How is this possible?’
This is the place where he should have stopped and said — it is not. No decent man will ever lift a hand against a woman. But of course, if he had said that, we wouldn’t be reporting on this guys words, would we? He went on to explain how he believed this could be possible…
‘The Prophet Mohammed said: ‘Don’t beat her in the face and do not make her ugly’ See how she is honored. If the husband beats his wife, he must not beat her in the face. Even when he beats her, he must not curse her. This is incredible! He beats her in order to discipline her. In addition, there must not be more than ten beatings. And he must not break her bones, injure her, break her teeth, or poke her in the eye.
‘There is a beating etiquette. If he beats to discipline her, he must not raise his hand high, he must beat her from chest level. All these things honor the woman. She is in need of discipline.’
I don’t have a clue what backwater wasteland this oxygen burglar happens to hail from, but in these parts, an honorable man doesn’t need to be told NOT to break his wife’s bones, or teeth, or poke out here eye.
In fact, in these parts, an honorable man won’t beat a woman at all.
You see, the West has this quirky thing called REASON.
When two adults disagree about something, the stronger one doesn’t just beat the weaker into submission. Instead, they sit down and have a conversation. They find out what they agree about, what they disagree about, and if some sort of a common ground or consensus can be found between them.
Maybe you could try it sometime.
If not, at least give the woman some brass knuckles to make it a fair fight.
