Trump Offers To Personally Pay For The Funeral Of Murdered Army Specialist Vanessa Guillen

This is the kind of thing that the Media(D) doesn’t want to be told.

On Thursday, President Trump met with the family of a murdered soldier and told the family that he was willing to pay for her funeral expenses personally. The family of Spc. Vanessa Guillen had refused a military funeral as they await the return of her remains which President Trump said that he would help expedite.

Vanessa Guillen,20, an Army specialist went missing from Fort Hood in April and her body was found 20 miles from the base on July 6. Guillen had been telling her family that she was being sexually harassed by a fellow soldier before she disappeared.

Investigators say that Guillen was beaten to death with a hammer in a Fort Hood armory and then dismembered and buried in a shallow grave. It’s believed that she was killed by Spc. Aaron Robinson, a 20-year-old soldier, who killed himself when he was confronted by police. Robinson’s girlfriend, Cecily Aguilar, 20, was charged in connection with Guillen’s murder for helping Robinson dispose of the body.

President Trump said that when he heard of Vanessa’s death, “it hit me very hard.”

The Guillen family has been very frustrated with the leadership in Fort Hood keeping them in the dark. They’ve been pushing for the #IAmVanessaGuillen bill to introduced in Congress. The bill would allow active-duty service members to file harassment and assault claims to a third-party agency instead of through their chain of command.

President Trump listened and committed to helping the family in several ways.

First, he committed to a full investigation.

Then he went further and offered to pay for funeral expenses.

“I don’t even know if you need help, maybe you don’t need help from a financial standpoint. I have no idea. I just think it’s a horrific thing that happened and if you did need help, I’ll be there to help you,” said President Trump.

Trump was asked by a reporter if he has paid for funerals of other soldiers. He responded, “I have, I have. I have to do it personally, I can’t do it through government. I have because some families need help. They need help.”

Vanessa’s 16-year old sister, Lupe said, “And for everyone that said, ‘The president will never meet with you, you will never enter the White House.’ Well, we just met him. We have his support.”
