Coward-19 And The Mask Of The Beast

I remember back in Mid-March when my home state of Michigan was hit hard with Coronavirus. Most of us thought we were going to die; that Stephen King’s book “The Stand” had come to life and soon people would be dragging their dead out into the streets for the government sanitation workers to haul away. Do you remember that scene from the movie “The Stand” where Kareem Abdul Jabbar is walking down the streets of New York City, ringing the bell and yelling over and over again, “Bring out your dead! The dark man is coming. The man with no face. Bring out your dead!”

So, our governor, in an effort to protect us from the virus, shut down our businesses and confined us to our homes. Most of us, because we believed her, complied with her executive orders. She told us that if we didn’t do exactly as she said, that millions of Americans would die. Then all of us were required to wear masks. Some people resisted, and she told us all that wearing a mask is a form of respect for others, and, if you refuse, then you just don’t care about other people; that you are killing them.

For the first month, I believed her. After all, the media and most of our politicians nationwide were warning us of this coming great apocalypse. And then the death toll started to trickle in. But it wasn’t in the millions; it was in the thousands. Finally, after all was said and done, we learned that Covid-19 wasn’t Stephen King’s monster after all. In fact, to date, for the duration of this pandemic, only 1.5 percent of all Americans have tested positive with Covid-19. (And we are testing everything that isn’t nailed down, symptoms or not.) At the present time, only 0.7 percent of our population has Covid-19. To put it all in perspective, there are 24 states where less than 1,000 people have died of Covid-19. And, to be quite blunt, those numbers are suspect. Many believe–and have proof–that Covid-19 deaths are extremely inflated. A few weeks ago a friend of mine shared with me how his uncle died of a massive heart attack in front of family members. When his wife received the death certificate, the cause of death was listed as “Covid-19.” He hadn’t even been tested for Covid, but hospitals receive government funds whenever someone dies of Covid under their care.

And our great governor, does she really care all that much about us, or is she just on a power trip? Is it more her ego than compassion for the people of our great state? I chose to initially give her the benefit of the doubt. But not anymore.

One of my students shared this story with me. He was talking to his state representative, and this particular rep told him how the Republican leadership of Michigan went to negotiate the terms of the governor’s extension of the emergency shut-down. Her authority under the law had run out, and she needed the legislature’s approval to extend it. They walked into the room, and the governor flipped them the bird (literally) and then signed the executive order extending the state of emergency against the will of the elected legislature.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer is drunk with power, and she needs intervention and a 12-step program to get help.

Just a few days ago she met with Joe Biden in Delaware as she is being considered as his VP running mate. Trust me, America, you do not want this woman as your leader. She’ll rule you with an iron fist and a jack-booted tyranny.

Just a few hours ago I went to the grocery store with my 10-year-old son to buy some milk. Most of our food we buy online or grow ourselves, but milk is something we have to get from a store or do without. My kids love milk, so I went to the store. I had my shopping cart half-full when the manager approached me. The conversation went like this:

“You cannot be inside the store without a mask.”
“I don’t wear masks.”
“Well, I’m sorry, but I cannot allow you to shop here without a mask.”
“But this is just a bunch of political BS.”
“Yes, I know, but I still have to enforce the order or I’ll lose my business license.”

My son and I left the shopping cart where it was and walked out.

It was interesting that she agreed with me. My own opinion is that most people understand that this is all political BS, but they choose to obey nonetheless. So, I got to thinking about it. Historically, people act based on their beliefs, yet, this manager was acting against her stated beliefs. Why?

There can be only one answer: Fear.

She’s afraid of losing her livelihood, so she complies with the government. Most people don’t really believe that Covid-19 is nearly as bad as they report; yet…they comply. In my opinion, Covid-19 isn’t the enemy; it’s not Stephen King’s superbug. The real enemy is cowardice. That’s the real pathogen, and it’s more contagious and deadly than any plague ever to hit mankind.

The real danger isn’t Covid-19 … it’s Coward-19.

There is a time to stand up and resist the government, and I think that time is now. If you believe that Covid-19 isn’t any deadlier than the flu, then start acting on your beliefs. If you believe the government is taking too much power, then stand up and take it back. If you believe that your freedom is being stripped from you under the guise of pandemic, then don’t wear the mask. After all, the mask is just a symbol. I’m reminded of a passage from the Bible.

“It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

Revelation 13:16-17 (NIV)

Of course, this verse is not talking about Governor Whitmer; it’s speaking of the antichrist, and I would never elevate her to that status. She is not the antichrist (as far as I know.) However, she is a picture of things to come. The antichrist will force us to wear the “mark of the beast,” whereas Governor Whitmer forces us to wear only the “mask of the beast.”

I would encourage Christians to be very careful about too much cowardly compliance. Right now you have the freedom of speech; but it may not always be so. There are many who will ridicule me for this article, and they have the right to insult me. However, I still have the right and the moral obligation to speak my mind and to censure my governor. And, if I don’t speak out in support of my own beliefs, am I really any better than her?

I think not. Those of you who remain silent, who quietly comply with something you know not to be true…you are complicit to an evil tyrant.

Recently a fellow Christian said to me: “The Bible tells me to render unto Caesar what it Caesar’s.” So he wears the mask because he feels it’s his Christian duty to obey the government. I disagree with him, but at least he’s thought it out and has a reason other than cowardice for his compliance.

Ask yourself this question: “What is coming next?”

Will it be a forced vaccine? Will it be prison time for non-compliance? Will I have to be re-educated into the government way of thinking?

All of those things are unacceptable to me. I refuse to bear the mask of the beast. It’s a supreme lie, and I will not be complicit to its evil.

Covid-19 is nothing compared to it’s most recent mutation…Coward-19. Don’t be a coward. Stand up for what you truly believe, especially when it’s difficult and unpopular.

“In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.”
