Senator Feinstein Takes Heat From BOTH Sides Over Conduct During ACB Hearings

Senator Feinstein had a rough day. First, she took heat for a hot mic moment that caught her saying things she didn’t want to admit to, then she did something so horrific that the hard left may never forgive her for it.

Let’s begin with the hot mic moment.

We all remember the first time that Judge Barrett went through the wringer back in 2017, don’t we? Her faith was put under the microscope. Democrat Senator Dick Durban asked whether she was an ‘orthodox Catholic’ and Senator Feinstein announced that the ‘dogma lives loudly within’ her. The reason those questions were so memorable is because the Constitution expressly forbade any Senator using such issues as a basis of approving or disapproving of a nominee.

You’d think the Democrats would have learned their lesson and left religion completely out of their considerations after that, right?

Well, the left’s own pseudo-religious devotion to the secular sacrament of abortion got in the way of being smart enough completely sever their objection to her religious convictions from their evaluation of her candidacy.

They were careful not to include any direct questions touching her faith, which is both right and tactically the smart choice. But when they thought nobody was listening, they were right back to the same old religious bigotry we saw the last time around.

But that’s not the most incendiary thing she did all day.

Something else she did sent the left into their typical peals of unrighteous indignation.

Demand Justice, an advocacy group that has staunchly opposed Trump’s effort to fill the judiciary with conservative nominees, was first out of the gate with a statement calling for Feinstein to resign.

“It’s time for Sen. Feinstein to step down from her leadership position on the Senate Judiciary Committee. If she won’t, her colleagues need to intervene,” Brian Fallon, the executive director of Demand Justice, said in a statement circulated about an hour after Barrett’s confirmation hearing ended.

“If Senate Democrats are going to get their act together on the courts going forward, they cannot be led by someone who treats Sunrise activists with contempt and the Republican theft of a Supreme Court seat with kid gloves,” Fallon said, referring to the Sunrise Movement, a grassroots environmental organization.

Prominent voices respected on the left followed with their own stinging criticisms.

“Diane Feinstein praising Barrett, and then inexplicably praising Graham, is a clear sign that she should not remain as the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee,” tweeted Norman Ornstein, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute and a contributing editor for the Atlantic magazine.

Laurence Tribe, professor emeritus of constitutional law at Harvard, retweeted Ornstein’s statement, adding, “I’m afraid I agree, much as I like Sen. Feinstein personally and admired her work years ago.”

What crime could she have done to outrage her own team?

It’s too unspeakable to put into words. But here’s a photo shared by one of the critics.
