Fragmented Nation: Is Now The Time To Break Up The Union?

I want a divorce. It’s not what you think. Everything’s fine on the home front. I’m talking about nationally. It’s time for Red and blue to go our separate ways, because of what amounts to irreconcilable differences. In other words, they want to violently destroy everything we’ve built, and we have this thing about peace and prosperity. We can’t even talk to each other anymore it’s gotten that bad. So for the sake of the kids, let’s have an amiable split.

This is not something new. We’ve already had a huge domestic dispute back in the 1860s. However, a very good marriage counselor of sorts, named Mr. Lincoln, helped us get through that period. (I know this might be new to you millennials out there. It’s from something called “history class”. Instead of studying Transgender Basket Weaving or Underwater Interpretive Dance Theory, you really should check into some history…really, you should…but noooo.)

Sporadically there have been attempts to form autonomous or semi-autonomous states within our borders. A 1975 novel, “Ecotopia” by Ernest Callenbach, explored the idea of an ecological utopia separate from the rest of the country.

More recently, the idea of the west coast states of California, Oregon, and Washington state breaking away and forming their own sovereign country called Pacifica has gained some traction. There was a Calexit movement by a group of Californians in 2018, but it was short-lived and got nowhere. The desire to break away from the Union and the reasons given by those on the Left who advocate such action is articulated best in an article by Lester Donald Earnest in 2017 entitled “Form Pacifica Now”.

“The ridiculous Electoral College specified in the U.S. Constitution was set up to give extra voting power to states with small populations and has not been fixed because it enables politicians to manipulate vote counting…this is just one of the major defects in the Constitution which was originally designed to give power to rich white men and has continued to do that for well over two hundred years.” (read the entire article at nationofpacifica.com)

There is a similar proposal that would also include the states of Hawaii and Nevada in Pacifica. And, further still, yet another idea would include parts of western Canada, most notably a large chunk of British Columbia, to be called Cascadia.

Nonetheless, this shows the disdain the coastal liberal elites truly have for the country. They were not gracious losers in 2016, and now we’re seeing their intentions are even worse when they win.

Well, if they hate the rest of us so much, let’s just let them have the West Coast and they won’t have to tolerate us deplorables anymore.

If they do start their own country, there’s some community property we want in the divorce. Close all the military bases on the West Coast and move the material and personnel inland. Between California, Oregon, and Washington state, there are 50 military bases. They keep the land, we get the rest.

If Nevada and Hawaii are included, that adds 14 more bases. Come to think of it, though, it might not be a good idea to let them have Nevada. 84.9% of the state is federal land already, so let’s keep that “as is”.

We also definitely will keep Alaska because of its strategic importance due to its location. Not to mention its resources.

Another possible plus on losing the West Coast states is the number of mostly liberal Congressional representatives who would no longer be in our government. Along with each state’s two Senators, California has 53 reps in the House, Washington state 10, and Oregon 5.

“Divorcing” the West Coast would of course have its complications, but also its plus side. Looking at the liberal bastions on the East Coast leaving would probably offer similar plusses and minuses. Time and space does not allow a complete rundown of what that might entail, but geographically, look at a map and consider this little mental exercise.

For the sake of our argument here, let’s say that the East Coast liberal elites would actually take us up on a petition to “divorce” and also start their own nation…(which would probably eventually turn into a Caliphate, but that’s another issue for another time.)

Geographically, let’s suppose we agree they get the following: all of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. In New York state, they get all of NYC (the 5 burrows of The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and Staten Island), along with the counties of Suffolk and Nassau (which make up Long Island), and the counties of Rockland and Westchester, directly north of the city. That’s all of the state of New York they would get.

They get all of New Jersey. On the southwest of Jersey is Delaware Bay, then the chunk of land known as Delmarva Peninsula which is shared by Delaware and the eastern part of Maryland. In theory, this is where the Eastern Elites nation would end. The Chesapeake Bay would be their border on the southwest. They don’t get all of Maryland or D.C.

Regardless, though, we might consider moving the new capital of the remaining USA further inland…just to get it away from a tendency to turn into a swamp.

If you’ve stayed with me this long, thank you. This is my personal speculation as to how a reasonable divorce between Red and Blue could work. We get the heartland, the Gulf Coast, Alaska, and all the people who know how to grow, harvest, prepare and transport food; all the people who know how to build and maintain infrastructure; and basically just all the people who understand the concept of a work ethic. They in turn get the overcrowded, over-taxed coastal urban areas, most of the socialist academic people, and all the alphabet soup crowd who have very little in the way of job skills beyond partying, complaining, and maybe being a barista somewhere.

There’s far too many details to put into a short article at this point. Regardless, though, we either get a divorce or it’s Civil War 2.0. Conservatives, and basically all Trump supporters, have already been threatened with “reconciliation councils”. It even gets much worse than that when you consider this quote from David Atkins, who ran for membership on the DNC National Committee, “…seriously, how do you deprogram 75 million people? Where do you start? Fox? Facebook? We have to start thinking in terms of post-WWII Germany or Japan. Or the failures of the Reconstruction in the South.”

This is what conservatives are up against. Don’t listen to all the upcoming BS about unity, healing, coming together, etc. They want us either deprogrammed or dead. I personally believe there will be physical violence and even warfare against conservatives in the spring, maybe even before. I don’t want to see a shooting civil war within our borders, but we might not have a choice. It might be either get a national divorce and realign the nation…or die.
