‘Thanks For Your Service’ Look Who’s Sheltering In Parking Garage After Defending Biden Transition

After denying requests for added security AHEAD of the events of January 6th, there was a mad scramble to militarize the Capitol in defending it from an alleged ‘coup against Biden’.

We will leave aside, for the moment, the various attempts in the past 4 years to hamper or even overthrow the previous duly-elected President, and turn our attention to those who answered the call to protect it.

Nancy Pelosi, like so many others in her party, is on record denouncing these same uniformed federal servants with such provocative terms as ‘gestapo’ or ‘thugs.

When the threat of mob violence was no longer facing Trump and his supporters (including large and violent gatherings at the White House where civilians and elected officials were explicitly threatened with violence, Rand Paul among them) she quickly changed her tune.

The first order of business was the erection of — irony noted — a protective wall to keep unwelcome trespassers out.

Another request of hers shows just how much contempt she has for ordinary American citizens.

Cuccinelli and anchor Martha MacCallum were discussing the presence of 25,000 National Guard troops in the nation’s capital after […] Jan. 6.

“A division,” Cuccinelli said, responding to MacCallum’s assertion that the number of troops is greater than the number in Afghanistan and Iraq. “You have a division. The last up of thousands of these troops was requested by the speaker through the Capitol Police. She even wanted crew-manned machine guns in Washington. That was rejected because there’s simply no use for that in a security arrangement for a civilian undertaking. Just — so some of this has gone beyond any legitimate security need.” –DailyCaller

Uh, what exactly, did she think troops were up against? Isn’t this the same chick who loudly denounced the use of tear gas and pepper balls against supposedly ‘mostly peaceful protesters’?

Suddenly, she wants a mound of American bodies piling up in the nation’s capital? What, would renaming Lafayette to ‘Tiananmen Square’ and rolling a line of tanks down the street be too on the nose for her?

Ok, the troops showed up to secure the city from … whatever threat they say was looming. (Maybe some of them should have rolled up to Denver, Seattle, and Portland too, if they really cared about violent insurgents.)

Photos abounded of troops sleeping on floors and under tables. The ceremonies went off without a hitch.

How did DC politicians show their appreciation to troops who put their own asses on the line to protect theirs?

They were summarily kicked to the curb. Almost literally.

Thousands of National Guardsmen were allowed back into the Capitol Thursday night, hours after U.S. Capitol Police officials ordered them to vacate the facilities, sending them outdoors or to nearby parking garages after two weeks pulling security duty after the deadly riot on Jan. 6.

One unit, which had been resting in the Dirksen Senate Office building, was abruptly told to vacate the facility on Thursday, according to one Guardsman. The group was forced to rest in a nearby parking garage without internet reception, with just one electrical outlet, and one bathroom with two stalls for 5,000 troops, the person said. Temperatures in Washington were in the low 40s by nightfall.

“Yesterday dozens of senators and congressmen walked down our lines taking photos, shaking our hands and thanking us for our service. Within 24 hours, they had no further use for us and banished us to the corner of a parking garage. We feel incredibly betrayed,” the Guardsman said.

POLITICO obtained photos showing the Guard members packed together in the parking garage, sleeping on the ground.

…Guard leadership did not make the decision and are “doing their best to provide rest shelter for troops who are still on 12-hour shifts protecting the Capitol and congressional grounds,” the second Guardsman said.-Politico

Can you imagine the uproar had this been under a Republican? They’d be demanding his head on a pike. Oh, wait… that impeachment is still pending, isn’t it?
