COVIDICTATORS DOWN UNDER: Melbourne Locks Down 6.5 Million Residents AGAIN Due To 13 Cases Of UK COVID Strain In A Quarantine Facility

Lockdowns work…but only if you stay locked down forever. Melbourne is proof of that.
Lockdown advocates all over the world were pointing to Australia’s harsh lockdowns and restrictions as the reason that the island nation fared so well during the pandemic.
The South China Morning Post (a CCP-critical media organization) reported that most of Australia was set to have a relatively normal Christmas in 2020 after lockdowns were (mostly) lifted in October.
“Relatively normal” was quite the phrase.
Sydney had three different levels of restrictions based on the spread of the virus in different areas of the city.

It looks like the victory lap was a bit premature.
The Premier of Victoria, Daniel Andrews, has pushed some very authoritarian rules to battle COVID-19 and it’s all based on case numbers — and relatively low ones at that.
Premier Andrews has now imposed a “short-circuit” lockdown of five days on Melbourne’s 6.5 million residents because of an outbreak in a hotel used to quarantine international travelers. The problem is that this is the shiny, new U.K. variant of the virus that spreads easily.
Melbourne, Australia’s second-largest city, will begin its third lockdown on Friday due to a rapidly spreading COVID-19 cluster centered on hotel quarantine.
The five-day lockdown will be enforced across Victoria state to prevent the virus spreading from the state capital, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said.
The Australian Open tennis tournament will be allowed to continue but without spectators, he said.
Only international flights that were already in the air when the lockdown was announced will be allowed to land at Melbourne Airport. Schools and many businesses will be closed. Residents are ordered to stay at home except to exercise and for essential purposes.
A population of 6.5 million will be locked down from 11:59 p.m. until the same time on Wednesday because of a contagious British variant of the virus first detected at a Melbourne Airport hotel that has infected 13 people.
“13 people.” They’re locking down 6.5 million residents for 13 people who tested positive for the new strain.
It would seem that the politicians in Australia believe that they can stop a respiratory virus at their borders and eradicate it from their country by using lockdowns… and wishful thinking.
Andrews said the rate of spread demanded drastic action to avoid a new surge in Melbourne.
“The game has changed. This thing is not the 2020 virus. It is very different. It is much faster. It spreads much more easily,” Andrews told reporters. “I am confident that this short, sharp circuit breaker will be effective. We will be able to smother this.”

But, by the end of Day 1 of the lockdown, that number rose all the way to 14! Imagine! One case in one day!
You know what that means, right? More lockdowns…
Lockdowns work– only if you stay in them forever. It is impossible to permanently stamp out COVID with lockdowns. Once there is movement, there is COVID. Melbourne, Australia heading into 3rd lockdown: https://t.co/ISYF1E3rV2

Markowicz is right. Lockdowns only work if you lock down forever.

But, if you can believe it, there are some Australian politicians who are calling for dedicated government-run quarantine facilities.
Check this out:

Clearly, the government has handled this entire pandemic in such a stellar manner so far that Australians should let them run the quarantine facilities, right?
Wake up, Aussies! Wake up!
