Governor Andrew Cuomo refuses to take responsibility for his deadly nursing home policy and has blamed everyone including nursing home staff and residents. It was absolutely appalling.
The way that New York State handled the spread of COVID in nursing homes was bewildering when it happened and the fallout has been even worse.
It made no sense to put elderly residents back into nursing homes once they had tested positive for COVID-19. It was like taking a match to an oil-soaked rag — of course the respiratory virus would spread in that situation. We know that the elderly are vulnerable to respiratory viruses, and we knew from the information from other countries that this wars particularly true with this new virus. It was bound to spread through the nursing homes like wildfire. Only a complete idiot would think it would have turned out otherwise. Perhaps that’s why body bags were sent to the nursing homes along with the COVID-positive patients.

Gov. Cuomo has been pointing the finger at everyone that he can find to blame for the high morbidity rate of COVID in New York state nursing homes.
In a presser on Monday, Gov. Cuomo blamed the Trump administration, federal guidelines, the CDC, political spin, disinformation, nursing homes, nursing home staff, families, visitors, and even the deceased themselves for the spread of COVID-19 in nursing homes. What isn’t to blame, according to Cuomo, is his infamous March 25th order that forced nursing homes to accept COVID-positive patients.
What is astounding to me is that he isn’t asked why he didn’t put the COVID-positive patients in the Javits Center or on the USNS Comfort that both sat there largely unused.
Now, New York Democrats, as well as Republicans, are now condemning Governor Cuomo for his bungling of the pandemic, especially with regard to nursing homes.
He made some pretty shocking accusations during his presser.

Cuomo then took aim at private nursing homes.

Cuomo then reiterates his horribly callous statement that he made during the peak of the pandemic — people are going to die anyway.

Then he says that you can’t blame his staff because they were under a lot of pressure.

As for apologizing, well, he’s not going to do that.

He’s right about the political spin — that’s what he’s doing right now. He’s not bringing “facts” it’s all political spin to deflect blame for his deadly nursing home policy and the cover-up of just how deadly that policy actually was.
Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean, who lost both of her in-laws in two New York nursing homes to COVID-19 reacts to the Governor’s presser.
Perhaps it would be best for Governor Cuomo to just fess up and admit that while he and his brother were yukking it up on CNN, people were needlessly dying because COVID-positive patients weren’t sent to Javits or the USNS Comfort.
Imagine, this guy got a book deal and an Emmy for these propaganda pressers where he’s patting himself on the back for his great leadership and our corporate media says nothing about it. Shameful.
